HONG KONG Chinese manufacturing activity improved for the first time in more than a year in November, the preliminary reading of a survey by HSBC showed Thursday. The so-called flash manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index for November printed at 50.4 -- above the 50-point threshold that separates improvement from deterioration -- for the first time in 13 months, the HSBC survey showed. In October, the final reading of the HSBC China manufacturing PMI came in at 49.5. The flash, or preliminary reading, is based on about 85% to 90% of the responses in HSBC's survey. Hongbin Qu, HSBC chief economist for China, said the data "confirms that the economic recovery continues to gain momentum towards the year end."

50.4 is not soaring thru the roof, it is just an improvement. Next month it may go down.

When you return to China next year, China's high-speed railway network would be over 9,000 kilometers long by then.

Yes the world's tallest bldg at Changsa will be near completion, 220 stories built in 90 days. More like 10,000 Km worth of HSR, no where in the world even come close. The index will be well over 50 by then.

You can take the high-speed rail from Beijing to Yichang then to see the Three Gorges Dam. It's about 4.5 hours. Same time from Shenzhen to Yichang.

China's economy is becoming self-sufficient. No longer dependant on exports to western countries.

If B.S.B.T construction completes this building as said...it sure will be impressing...no DOUBT...however the 4 billion Yuan budget has already been dismissed by Chinese experts as unrealistic.

Very TRUE!...but once again there is a darker side of the coin here
....Chinas Ministry of Railway sinking deeper and deeper in to the credit hole....Bullet trains trafficking Beijing-Shanghai runs on credit....Beijing-Shanghai HSR project plagued by corruption...fraud...mismanagm ent has made the project billions of Yuans more expensive than necessary...

But hey Flakey! lets skip the negativ attitude...for now:o)

First positive month after thirteen straight months of deterioration and everything is fine?

Sounds more like "dead cat bounce".
