BRAZIL BURNING

More than a million Brazilians took to the streets of at least 80 Brazilian towns and cities in demonstrations that saw violent clashes and renewed calls for an end to government corruption and demands for better public services.
Riot police battled protesters in at least five cities, with some of the most intense clashes in Rio de Janeiro, where an estimated 300,000 demonstrators swarmed into the city's central area.
Television images showed police firing tear gas canisters and rubber bullets into crowds of young men, their faces wrapped in T-shirts. Other demonstrators were shown detained lying on pavements.

"The protests took place a week after a violent police crackdown on a much smaller protests in Sao Paulo galvanised Brazilians to take to the streets.""

and THAT "much smaller protest" was over a hike in TRANSIT FARES!!!
It only goes to show that in a democracy like Brazil, it is impossible for a regime to use political terror against its own people a la the Tiannanmen Square Massacre in China in 1989.

Interesting for China indeed, and with a clear lesson for the Chinese people.

VERY interesting apparent "law" of politics, I think.

I wonder if we had a hand in this through the CIA or some NGO. We foment unrest recklessly everywhere even if well intentioned.

^I really doubt that. It doesn't make any sense at all. You really should think that through.

It is just the logical 21st century result to a heavy-handed authoritarian (or authoritarian wanna-be) regime. The same thing has happened in Turkey and elsewhere recently.

It will inevitably happen in China, too.

Political terror against your own people just doesn't work anymore.
