"The United States is a tiger with no power," Shin said in his office, where three walls are lined with books, many about China. "Nobody can deny that China is the one now rising."

Yes it is true but China still needs to address many issues.

Then China will be the true giant.

But the air is still better here where I live, water also.

I was in China eight months ago, I saw what was really going on in China, I was impressed. 8% growth that is truly fabulous, very few countries in the world can boast about that. But what impressed me the most is that they are slowly but gradually cleaning up the environment and taking care about their once very problematic water problem.

SO why did China make specific requests that the US embassy in Beijing stop reporting on the air quality?

Surely if it was getting better they'd want to publicise the fact.

The air quality in China is reported daily, you can find it in the internet os news easily. China's air is definitely getting better. Their coal plants are burning much cleaner with new technology and strict regulation and their vehicles are more conforming to emission standards.
Where did this UK fellow getting his info from. some of the info you get from the internet are over 7 years old, you go to China now you will find huge differences in their water and air quality. It will suprassed many Western countries soon.

china shoots for almost 8% growth targets while the obama admin cheers and pats itself on the back at 1% which can't even pace food inflation percentages. better hope china can sustain their growth cause obama wants to borrow another 6-8 trillion in this next few years.
