Obama did the same thing but it is still business as usual. Xi is no different than any politician.

Obama thinks in term of 4 year plan, Xi 10 years. He will have more time for difficult reform while after 4 years Obama can't even close Guantanamo as promised. They should take back his Nobel peace prize, never before has noble prize been given for essentially doing nothing.

Xi may be worst than Obama, he wants to go back to the Mao ways, using Red Guards to kill ppl left and right. We all remembered the Mao days.

I think that is to pacify the red faction, which is still a significant force. Although personally I am not a fan of Mao, there is certain qualities associated with revolution which are not a all bad, so lets pick the good elements. China has been moving to fast in recent years and a lot of area has been driven by monetary incentives resulting in loss of humanity and integrity. I think a bit of slow down and soul searching is good in the long run, whether it is going back to Confucius or a mild reflection of Mao's ideology may not be too bad.
