Should Christians eat halal meat?

Jan 7, 2011 | Posted by: Joe DeCaro | Full story: www.barnabasaid.org

All over the UK today, supermarket chains, shops and restaurants are selling halal meat. We may find it on the menu at our children’s school or the local hospital, or be offered it when we go to a sporting event. If we go for a meal with Muslim friends, any meat we are served will probably be halal. It can be hard to avoid eating this meat, especially as if is often not labelled as halal and little information is available to the consumer ...

from barnabasaid:

"... The halal meat industry is part of a process of Islamisation in which some Muslims are seeking to impose the legal requirements of Islam, not just on their own people, but also on the rest of society. Should we, as Christians, or for that matter other non-Muslims, submit to the diktat of Islamic law now being perpetuated by the British meat industry and through supermarket chains? In eating halal meat, it can be argued that Christians and other non-Muslims are now furthering the process of dawa (Islamic mission), the Islamisation of society, and the imposition of Islamic law."

Yes, Christians should eat halal meat, on the same day Muslims surrender their taste buds to a good old bacon sandwich.

Halal should be labelled as such so we have a choice.

Where are those animal right activities when those animals are slaughtered in a very barbaric circumstances? I for one will never eat halal for I don't want to join in this form of barbarism. It should be forbidden absolutely. If these kind of barbaric form of slaughtering of animals was done by Christians those PC politicians would have forbidden it in a day.

Halal or Kosher, it shouldn't matter to Christians, unless there is no choice in the matter. We, Christians, don't have a religious proscription against any particular meat, except maybe ... human.

On principle I refuse to eat Halal because it has been proscribed for Islamic religious reasons for the Muslim community. By accepting it, one also accepts the Islamic Dawa to Islamise non-Muslim countries by stealth!

Stop it before it is too late!

worse.

Buying Halal meat is supporting Islam as a percentage from the sale goes to the company providing the Halal certification.

Not only that Halal is also marked on many things that don't require it, like Cadbury Chocolate. A percentage of it's sale also goes to the company providing the certification.

Buying Halal means you support Islam and Islamification of your country.

I don't buy any of it, even vegemite.

ISLAM IN THE BIBLE:

1 Timothy 4
' 1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. 4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

NZ has banned Kosher meat, Halal next. Australia and America should follow suit.

Where's PETA when you need them.

It's not the meat.

"With regard to halal, there are two areas of primary concern. Firstly, the method of killing, which some view as objectionable because the animal is said to suffer unnecessarily, and, secondly, the prayer that is used over the animal as it is being killed, which may be either the bismillah (in the name of Allah) or the shahada, the Muslim creedal statement (there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger). This religious dimension is what makes halal meat halal. Furthermore, halal is an essential part of sharia, Islamic law."

Halal meat is not an insult to Christianity. It might, however, be in conflict with your views on animal abuse.

I will be happy to respect Islamic dietary needs and eat halal meat with them; so long as Muslims will respect my dietary needs and share my pork chop with me!

why should they. no one should. we should get muslims to make a special and concerted effort that none of the food they offer is tainted or considered halal. i want to see then go through such lenght to submit to the will on non - muslims.

If you don't like halal meat then open your own butcher - it is not a religious issue but one of availability. If you can't get non halal meat because you live in an Islamic country then move.

Please provide a link to substantiate your accusation because nobody is trying to impose halal meat on me and the community I live in?
