You try to put down China and the Chinese people because of your own ignorance and prejudice.

Meanwhile you are boasting of your Australian inventions and products? In you last message, you tell readers to google. That shows how seriously you are when dealing with facts and judgement.

Information listed under Google is not reliable as any Bozo can write anything they want, but you rely on such info. That explains your stupidity.

Needless to say China invented a lot things which have copied by other countries in the last 3 millenia.

Actually it is long and time-consuming that I really do not want and cannot reproduce an exhaustive list here.

But since you are ignoring all the inventions so that you can spread your false message that China contributed nothing and had no ability to do so, I shall list just a few below.

Throughout China contributed the following (which have been recognised world-wide by scholars):

- accupuncture & the whole theoretic system still in use today,
- campass,
- gunpowder,
- firearms and rockets,
- movable typsetting and publishing,
- pen and ink
- paper making,
- use of finger-print to solve criminal cases,
- methods of building bridges & houses without nails etc.
- shipbuilding (of large ships as used by merchants and General Cheng He's fleets.)
- first country to print paper money
- Geometry, trigonometry, and Chinese version of Pythogarus thereom.
- music theory.

I do not go by Google. Please go to find a copy of book by Professor Joseph Needam of Cambridge University, UK.

Again, I must re-iterate that the info. circulating on the Internet is not reliable.

We need to do better and use better sources for tracking scientific invention and research.

During modern times, China's contribution includes the following:

- One of the biggest patent holders after USA, EU, and Japan. The trend set by China for annual research funds and patent registration is still rising. Before long it will be the the second ranking country following USA. This is based on UN statistics.

- Chinese universities including those in Taiwan, Macao and Hong Kong produce the largest amount of top quality papers documenting research results (following USA). Again, we should not go by Google. We go by Thomson Scientific/web of knowledge. Look at the top scientific journals in Thomson's Social Science Index (SSCI), and Science Index (SCI). You can see a lot of publications by Chinese scholars, not counting Chinese scholars teaching overseas.

But Australia ranks very low in research output, lower than Canada. Australian universities are known as poor in research output. That is an accepted fact in academia.

*** Let me name a few more items of invention lest you shall never know about them:

- the mechanism to connect train locomotives and compartments still in use world-wide (by Engieer Zhan Tian Yao).

- Dr. Ann Wang invented core memory and the patent was sold to IBM. With the money Dr. Wang start his own firm, Wang Laboratories.(In USA)

- Dr. Ho Ta-Yi invented cocktail treatment for aids patients.(In USA)

- Professor Yuan Long Ping (in PRC) developed high-yielding rice species to resolve famine not only in China but also the developing world. That is one of the biggest contribution to mankind.

- DNA research are among the top 5 and respectable results have been published in top research journals in recent years. Why don't you brown Nature and other Grade 1 science and medical journals for more information. Do not refer to Google because it is not reliable.

- Fusion research are at par with USA and EU,

- Hong Kong Polytechnic University's research and publications in architecture and civil engineering are the second top-most contributor to SCI journals in the world right after Stanford University.

- Hong Kong Polytechnic University produced the lightest Mars Rock Corer in the world, which was used by the European Beagle 2 project. This same university, while not the best in China, also produces robots for soldering in space. Two set of the tools were adopted by Russia space station.

- China's Beidou II (Compass II) system has 2 features that Glonass, Galileo and US GPS do not have. Beidou II can help the user broadcast its own position to others, and can sent short text message.

How can Europeans say China copied their technology when China is so successful in the Beidou project (with unique features in the world), but the European project is shamefully falling apart.

- China's rocket system, originally benefitted from USSR/Russia-trained engineers now becomes a system of its own. China's manned spacecraft, Divine Craft (5, 6, 7, 8, 9) follow a unique design which USA, and Russia won't do.

The Chinese system has 3 units instead of 2 (in the cases of Russian and American spacecrafts). One added unit is an experiment unit which can continue to stay in orbit to carry on experiments for extended durations.

Just to name a few items.

*** Russian and Americans can look down on China and the Chinese in science development, but definitely not Australians. Australia are not qualified.

You can continue to smear China and Chinese with considering your own deficiencies but that is not because of China's problem, but your own shamelessness.

How about people from Scotland?

I think my nation of 5 million people might well have contributed more than China in invention and discovery.

That certainly suggests that for its size, China is an awful long way behind.

of course you are going to win the numbers game... China did not have the ground, air or naval superiority... the US/UN did

all China had was a surplus of soldiers who were given 5 days of rice... and in some regiments 1 rifle between 4 or 5 soldiers

plus lets look at Vietnam... how many enemy soldiers did the Americans kill there? 1 million or more?

does it matter... no one considers the Americans won that war even though they won the numbers game...

because thats what you do... when faced against superior military force you sacrifice land and lives for time

btw you said it yourself....

think about it.... if things were going so well for the USA and the UN....

why were they talking about using nukes then??????

(btw the Chinese didnt believe the USA, was going to use them... and the US was afraid it would bring in Russsia to the war)
You tell me if those numbers are wrong

im arguing that their is no doubt America had a better kill ratio in Vietnam... but we all know they lost that war...

even though they probably killed 1 million North Vietnamese people

The Korean War, 1950-1953

Extracted from

AMERICAN MILITARY HISTORY

ARMY HISTORICAL SERIES
OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF MILITARY HISTORY
UNITED STATES ARMY

Analysis

The period from early November 1950 to late January 1951 was in many ways the most heartbreaking of the Korean War. During the previous summer the North Korean attack had been a total surprise, and the disastrous retreat to the Pusan Perimeter was painful in the extreme. However, the series of defeats could be explained by the necessarily haphazard and slow reinforcement of the outnumbered U.S. and South Korean forces. Moreover, these defeats were followed by elation as the Inchon landings reversed the situation and the UN forces seemed on the verge not just of victory in South Korea but of total victory, including the liberation of North Korea and the reunification of the peninsula. All these dreams were swept away by the massive intervention of the Chinese Army in late November 1950. There would be no homecoming victory parade by Christmas.

The initial warning attacks and diplomatic hints by the Chinese were ignored by the overconfident Far Eastern Command under General MacArthur. MacArthurs failure to comprehend the reality of the situation led the entire United Nations army to near disaster at the Chongch&#65533 ;on River and the Chosin Reservoir. Only the grit and determination of the individual American soldiers and marines as they fought the three major enemies of cold, fear, and isolation held the UN line together during the retreats from North Korea. Once tied together into a coherent defensive line, under new and dynamic leadership, these same soldiers and marines showed their determination to continue the fight. Hard battles lay ahead, but the period of headlong retreats from an attacking, unsuspected foe, was finally over.

<quoted text>I hear that you smear China for this and that all the time.

China makes a lot of cars, phones, electricity, planes, the Internet, computers, tvs, DVDs. Many of the items made by China including DVDs, computers, TVs and planes and phones are of good quality. For instance Vtech phones, TVs, & DVDs. Lenovo computers and phones, Haier washing machine and dryers, and refrigerators.
These are famous brands and as popular as LG and Samsung all over the world. The market tells whether the products are good, but not you racist.

China makes good fighters jets, and they are good. It creates its own brand of electric cars, and the fastest running speed training with home developed technology newer and faster than Japan and German's.

*** What did Australia invent in history, and in more recent years? It was a convict colony in the past.

*** If you cannot invent anything significant, what can you manufacture though? Do it cheap and of acceptable quality?

Even if many white countries have invented many things, and USA is the best inventor, what does it have to do with your country Australia and your people?

Aren't USA a different country? How can you treat their invention as your own? Are you saying that Australia is a state of USA?

You really have no shame? When you accuse other people, first look at your own house. You are a lot worse than China and other Chinese states in technology development and production.
Are you going to have a cry about that? Need a tissue?

China might make a lot of things but the quality is shit and all the stuff came from other people's ideas. Read and weep asshole:
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_inv...
That's right, stuff that is part of your everyday life was invented by our tiny population of 23 million. Your 1.3 billion people couldn't even outperform us.

FYI we don't manufacture much now because we exploit peasants like you since our wages are too high. But people get sick of stuff that is made in china because the quality is horrible and it only lasts 1/5 of the time Aussie stuff will.

Nation Promotes Scientific Innovation

Almost 100 major scientific and technological breakthroughs have been achieved in China over the past five years, a top official announced in Beijing on Wednesday.

Ninety-seven key scientific and technological achievements in 11 fields have pushed forward industrial development and improved people's living standards, said Deng Nan, vice-minister of science and technology, on Wednesday.

Leading officials from 11 national industrial societies, including the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, the Chinese Medical Association and the China Water Conservancy Society, elaborated on the major technological breakthroughs achieved during the Ninth Five-Year Plan (1996-2000) period.

china inventions...

Mapping of initial anti-aging formula: Chinese researchers in Hong Kong found that a mutation in the Lamin A protein disrupted the repair process in cells, thus resulting in accelerated aging. In their latest work using both mice and experiments in petri dishes, they found that normal and healthy Lamin A binds to and activates the gene SIRT1, which experts have long associated with longevity. This was published in the December 2012 issue of the journal Cell Metabolism.[537]
Measurement of neutrino mixing angle θ13:The Daya Bay experiment in China reported the measurement of the parameter θ13 in March 2012.[538][539][540][541][542] An important contribution to particle physics, this was named one of the runners-up breakthrough of the year in 2012 by Science[543][544]
Non-invasive prenatal diagnostic testing for Down's Syndrome: Previously, women underwent invasive testing such as amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling (CVS). This new maternal blood test has the potential to reduce the number of women referred for invasive testing for Down's syndrome by 98 percent. Developed by Chinese researchers in Hong Kong in 2008, this is hailed as a breakthrough.[545]

List of Chinese inventions

A bronze Chinese crossbow trigger mechanism with a buttplate (the wooden components have since eroded and disappeared), inlaid with silver, from either the late Warring States Period (403221 BC) or the early Han Dynasty (202 BC AD 220)

China has been the source of many inventions,[1] including the Four Great Inventions: papermaking, the compass, gunpowder, and printing (both woodblock and movable type). The list below contains these and other inventions.

The Chinese invented technologies involving mechanics, hydraulics, and mathematics applied to horology, metallurgy, astronomy, agriculture, engineering, music theory, craftsmanship, nautics, and warfare. By the Warring States Period (403221 BC), they had advanced metallurgic technology, including the blast furnace and cupola furnace, while the finery forge and puddling process were known by the Han Dynasty (202 BC AD 220). A sophisticated economic system in China gave birth to inventions such as paper money during the Song Dynasty (9601279). The invention of gunpowder by the 10th century led to an array of inventions such as the fire lance, land mine, naval mine, hand cannon, exploding cannonballs, multistage rocket, and rocket bombs with aerodynamic wings and explosive payloads. With the navigational aid of the 11th-century compass and ability to steer at high sea with the 1st-century sternpost rudder, premodern Chinese sailors sailed as far as East Africa and Egypt.[2][3][4] In water-powered clockworks, the premodern Chinese had used the escapement mechanism since the 8th century and the endless power-transmitting chain drive in the 11th century. They also made large mechanical puppet theaters driven by waterwheels and carriage wheels and wine-serving automatons driven by paddle wheel boats.

This above is just tip of the iceberg!

China on hunt for looted treasure

By Michael Bristow
BBC News, Beijing

China's government protested when these bronze heads went on sale earlier this year
China is planning to send teams of experts to the United States, Europe and Asia to find looted treasure.

The teams will be looking for precious items stolen from Beijing's former Summer Palace nearly 150 years ago.

Chinese experts believe 1.5 million items could have been taken from the site, which was destroyed by British and French troops.

Over recent years, China has become increasingly active in its efforts to raise the issue of stolen treasures.
