In Canada we have laws to protect kids, so that moment of stupidity would cost you
$6750.00 dollars.
I would like to see kids who have got health problems from second hand smoke,(careless thoughtless adults make them suffer), sue their asses off.
Hhhhmmmm.

Some are easily ruled.

The Declaration of Independence:

"He ( King George III ) has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance .... He has combined with others to subject us,... imposing taxes on us without our consent."

Show me your "papers".....

http://www.opkansas.org/_Assets/agendas/counc...

These efforts include: passenger restraint programs (Operation ABC, Clicks STEP program, seat belt checkpoints, etc.), sobriety checkpoints and special enforcement efforts (high visibility enforcement, saturation patrols). If successful with this grant application, the Overland Park Police Department will inform Operation Impact members of our “Click It or Ticket” campaign and encourage their participation.
---------

First seatbelts were "voluntary"

Next they were "required", but they could not stop you for not wearing one.

Next they could.

Now they have "checkpoints" where they can ask for you "papers".

Now...like minded individuals are losing the right to gather indoors on private property to enjoy a legal lifestyle.

History knows the results.

Sounds like pure nazi propoganda. Of course Americans believe one should be allowed to smoke on their own private property. Only a nazi would believe otherwise. You're a sick and a disgusting person. Please do all Americans a favor and stay north of the border. Your kind isn't welcome south of the border. Stay north and practice your nazi ways in Canada.

Wrong there are many places where you can breathe clean fresh air.
Where I just moved from is a fine example.

Smoke filled air is one of the worst stenches out there.

If they are going to fine parents or adults who ignorantly smoke around kids, I hope they make the fines hefty. Small fines are nothing.

And we need to raise the taxes and amount of cigarettes, they have not been raised in a long time. They are still just under $10 a pack. They need to be at least $15-$20 a pack.

I still say make tobacco illegal altogether.
It is a terrible filthy habit, and cost the medical too much money. If a person is sick from smoking, they should be paying for any medical pertaining to this. Not the public, and not medical, it should be extra, medical pays so much, or should only cover so much, it is self inflicted, so they should pay half over and above what medical covers.

In BC now they cannot even display cigarettes, they have to be behind a curtain or door.

Which is fine by me, I can smell them even when they are still wrapped up.
My sons friend smokes and as soon as he took his pack out I could smell the stench.
My son would never smoke thank god. Of course he was not raised around it.

Neither was I raised around smoking. My family were the original anti smokers. Sometimes, a parent's hysteria over an issue actually leads to the very behavior you so object to. That has been true since the beginning of time and still is so.

As soon as they enact that law I'm going to adopt 50 kids and chain smoke in my car.
I presumed nor assumed anything, I accused you, you provided the proof in your post.....You called me an ignorant abusive adult with a simple mind. You proved it again.
Oh and sticks and stones. You assume I am a dyke. I hate fags and lesbos, they disgust me.
Do try harder if you are going to attempt to insult me, I have heard worse. And as always it amuses me.

I have never sued anyone in my life, and that is the American way, after all ya'll perfected that career move.
All I am saying is if a person has health problems from second hand smoke and is going to cost them out of pocket then they should be able to sue the ignorant one that exposed them to it.

And if anyone did injure me because of their ignorance or neglect, damn right I would sue their worthless ass off.
But when I am out, I am out with a conscience and take safety etc, into my own hands, as you always got to watch out for the next guy, be one step ahead.

When I have to go around a smoker hoveled in a doorway, I make it quite clear that they stink and how offensive it is. If my grandchildren are with me, I cover their mouths, and tell the offender to smoke elsewhere. We all cover our mouths and noses until we are clear of the area.
Some people have no understanding of how far they are to be away from entrances, so I think we should ban all public smoking just for those ones that think they are above the laws, and above others, got to punish them all, because of the many ignorant ones out there. Yet these same people will whine when they are put upon, in other ways. As always things get ruined, restricted, etc., because of a few rotten apples.

Whether smoking around children constitutes "abuse" "endangerment" or "inflicted injury" is immaterial, and merely an argument over semantics.
A rose by any other...
Not exactly. That would be like allowing the smokers to compare their persecution to that of the Jews in the Holocaust, saying it's just an issue of semantics.
Midnight Muse wrote:
The fact remains that it is a selfish act, which endangers a child's health. The parent does not have to smoke, but the child has to breathe. Anyone who truly loves a child would never dream of endangering its health in that way. From my standpoint, they are selfish, ignorant oafs. The nicotine must have frazzled their brains.
But you are working from a foregone and unscientific conclusion that such brief exposure is endangering the health of the child. I understand your standpoint, but do you?

I don't mean to come across as antagonistic, but you need to realize that the greatest locus of a tobacco smoke exposed child's, er, exposure is in the child's very home, not in their vehicle.

And as you've noted, it's not strictly due to the smoker smoking near the children. Smoke travels. Sure, a good portion of it adsorbs onto other surfaces rather than stay in the air, but that adsorbed smoke is just an exposure waiting to happen at a later time.

The air in the home is largely recirculated. This is a system design due to many factors, including economy, but a big one is the small number of occupants.(The more occupants, the greater the need for air replacement, due to C02 accumulation.) The adsorbed tobacco smoke adheres to virtually every surface in the house, especially the air ducts. So, an active smoker in a room in the basement will, given enough time and smoking, send smoke particles into the upstairs bedrooms.

Now, I'm sure that the adult in that room is not intentionally being selfish, and many "anti-smoking" people who are ignorant of the physics behind a home central air system would give them kudos for not smoking near the children.

Yet that smoker is increasing the health risks of his or her children, without even realizing it.

But the smoker in a vehicle with the window open is providing less exposure to the passengers.

If you care to get your fat head out of your ass, you will see that I was quoting another poster, if you go back you will see who the original post came from dumb ass.

I don't need to adopt any kids, I have already, Dominican ones.

And big mouth Americans like yourself only make me laugh. That is about all the response ones such as this deserve, that and pity.

I also know that there are many really nice civil Americans out there, thank god.

And the smoker in the car with the window open is not providing less smoke to the passengers or driver. I let my brother smoke in my car,(it was snowing white out conditions) he had the window all the way down, I had the heat at full blast, and I could still smell the smoke, and it gagged me, so he had to put it out, I did not think it would create that much smoke inside, but it is like it came right out one window and into the other. It just did not make a difference.

Actually if I wanted to adopt kids, I would have no problems, I am well educated, good clean home, lifestyle is above average. I am extremely qualified.
As I said to Midnight this guy Flutey just wants to argue (he lost the battle a long time ago), either for attention or lack of.
