I feel deeply ashamed. I know in my heart that these acts by our nation breed hate and will not ultimatley provide us with any more national security. I can't imagine inflicitng so much pain. Agression does not breed peace!

Oh shut up. He was lobbing a grenade at a soldier and probably killed him. Save your crocodile tears for someone else. You’re “deeply ashamed?” I’m deeply ashamed that you breathe the same air as the honorable men and women who put their lives on the line for losers like you.

First of all, I respect your right to handwring. That is one of many things that make our country great. In countries that operate under sharia, you would likely have your head separated from your shoulders for a sentiment like that.

Now to the meat of the issue...What acts? Sleep deprivation? Waterboarding? Perhaps you ought to Google "Nick Berg" and see what this kid's family financed.

When are people going to wake up and realize you can't "hug it out" with people who have been brainwashed since birth by fascists disguised as religious leaders to hate to the death, anything labeled as "infidel".

Neville Chamberlain also believed that aggression did not breed peace, and it landed an aggressor on his doorstep. I pray that there are more folks who remember their history, so well meaning (but ultimately misguided) folks like you don't condemn us to repeat it.

One part of me finds the existance of Gitmo, totally dispicable as it flies in the face of what we in the western world are led to believe is civilized. However, it has also been my experience that you have to fight fire with fire, and given the attrocities that are being committed against us, I can see where we have no alternative but to respond in an appropriate manner whether it be what we would prefer to do or not.

This poor little Canadian boy is in "Gitmo" for good reason and if he wasn't, Canada would have lobbied for his release a long time ago. His family are well known terrorist supporters who abetted his travel to Afghanistan for training and combat at the age of 15. As far as I am concerned, they should be in "Gitmo" with him.

I find exception with the term "enemy combatant", they should just call a spade a spade. These folks are enemy terrorists. A non combatant enemy doesn't pose much of a threat now do they?

Enemy combatant is one of those oxymoron terms that seem catchy at the time, much like the term "friendly fire". When one goes into an armed conflict, they should expect their opposition to be "combatant". Likewise, when a bullet tears through your body, it is just as deadly regardless of which direction it came from. Nothing "friendly" about it. I think these are terms used to somewhat mask reality from the general viewing audiences that are quite comfortable sitting in their safe and cozy armchairs passing judgement on those who are face to face with the harsh realities every day.

I personally don't like some of the things we have to do to protect our freedoms but I also realize life is full of things that we don't necessarily "like" to do but "have" to do. For those that place their well being on the line for the rest of us, you have my undying admiration, respect and thanks. For those that prefer to turn their eyes from the facts and pass judgement on those who are performing their valiant tasks, I can only say "shame on you".

Actually I have several friends and reletives in combat.

I believe they do whats nessasary. But I don't think any of them would murder someone they have already captured. Its called honor, and it why they signed up in the first place.

Why only a few Mad Dog? Had you taken the time to talk to Canadians instead of listening to our liberal media hype (US has the same media problem, doesn't it?), you'd realize the majority of Canadians agree with Rik.

Just wish they'd put the rest of his family in Gitmo to.

I don't see how sleep deprivation is such a "torture". Most of us in the working world and stresses of everyday barely get enough sleep...so what should I do, call Amnesty International?

Anyways, this SOB Omar Kahdr, a so-called Canadian citizen doesn't deserve any pity, compassion or anything else. WTF was this little jihadist doing in Afghanistan in the first place?(we all know the answer). He put himself into this predicament and now put up with the consequences!!!!

I say, take his mother and the rest of his family, ship 'em all to Guantanamo or back to where she came from!!!

Go ahead USA....fry this little jihadist and send a CIA secret team into Canada to finish off his family.
God Knows our govt, whether it be liberal or conservative are too afraid to strip his mother of citizenship(she immigrated here) for her beliefs in radical islam and support of al-qaeda.Funny, we will hunt down 85 yr old former nazi's and deport them but not this muslim sh*t family.

I assume that most people, at least in Canada, know about the women in Winnipeg who has had her children taken from her because she let her daughter go to school with a swatiska on her. The mother is a white supremicist and the social services, I would assume, feel the children are being brought up in a hateful enviroment.

I do not agree with white supremecy etc...but why has her children been taken from her when Omar Khadr's mother and father taught him the ways/beliefs of al-qaeda, sent him to Afghanistan to fight the very soldiers of the country she lives in/immigrated to??

Now Omar's mommy says she can't bear to look at the video of her son. What a liar, hypocrite, idiot and fool! It wasn't unbearable to send him to Afghanistan to learn how to kill the very people who let you in Canada in the first place!

Someone in Toronto should do us all a "favor". Now there's a candidate for the Order of Canada, one who would "rid" Canada of this filth.

Torture is torture,I too am embarrassed. But for my country.

At least a judge is allowing the evidence to come forth. Did you read the article? The tactics used on this 15 year old are against international law.
Do you advocate torture of 15 year old American children who might have some information of a crime? How about if it were your child? He is/was a pawn of his own family. He should be treated in a humane manner,it is likely the information would come out in short order, of his own accord.

Both our countries always held to a higher standard. Torture is banned for a number of good reasons and it doesn't yield reliable information.Don't go on about beheadings and such. Remember what the Nazi's did and German prisoners of that horrible era were not tortured, were they?

might as well just have police in riot gear roaming the streets killing anyone who looks like he might have Muslim blood, or remove them to concentration camps. You never know when they are going to activate their mind control!
