Well hopefully they divvy up those profits reasonably. Maybe Canada has yet to learn from Norway ... time will tell I suppose.

I've worked long term in oil sands from Fort Saskatchewan to Fort Mcmurray first step is quit bending over to the American companies who all work with the CIA to get our oil for almost nothing. Alberta provincial premier Ed Stelmach was voted in on a platform that raised taxes on big oil to 19%( Ralph Klein had oil companies paying 1% tax as long as they had a project ongoing, so they all started mini projects that had no role in plant operations thus screwing Canadians out of our rightful money)

After being elected Ed Stelmach renigged on his platform and lowered taxes on big oil to 4% based on volume. AS WELL when he vanished without explanation from politics the public should beware Ed Stelmach gave 1 BIllion dollars to Shell Canada for who knows what reasoning and 1 billion dollars to the northwest upgrader that was never built!! Suddenly he vanishes from politics this Ukrainian farmer must have taken a couple million in kick backs the RCMP should be investigating offshore accounts, thanks Ed for putting a debt free province back in debt.

Alison Redford takes over and yet another leader who is letting Exxon build Kearl Lake mine for bitumen and pumping the one time resource to 3 refineries in the United States thus screwing Canadians out of 18,000 yes 18,000 refinery jobs. How will Norway dictate to us on how not to have non corrupt politicians but a responsible government and beware Statoil is Norwegian and they are balls deep in the Tarsands screwing us too, probably jealous that the Dutch Shell and Frances Total have more of a chunk than they do. I pray for politicians who will tax these record profit earning companies and currently the Harper government just approved foriegn workers to work all the facilities at 15% less wage than Canadians this is treason just as China and Malasyia have signed possesion from Harper of some facilities in Alberta. Treason I say high treason, this is criminal. But who will protest this? Not a sole. Ug.

We had the answer in the 80's with NEP...but Alberta put a stop to supporting development/manufacturing/rese arch in the rest of Cda.

Now Alison Redford has the balls to say...BC is hindering the Cdn economy by challenging the route of gateway...

How do you figure Alberta couldnt care what other provinces do, its when equalization payments are funneling money to quebec and other poor provinces raising there standard of living while we get screwed. Why is it poor quebec pays dam near nothing for daycare when albertans have to pay $1000 a month per kid? When the feds take our money and spend little back ya thats a problem. BC by the way is strong arming alberta because the agenda is to take alberta oil and refine it in bc, when its already being done here. all political bs, buying votes.

We are all "Canucks"...lol.

We are a resource based economy...if We followed that program in the 80's...then the manufacturing base in Ont/Qc would be able to compete with cheap labour "now".
This would have given companies the ability to do research too.

BC has an idiot for a leader right now. AFN Peoples are the drivers, and most of BC will follow their lead!

It's not about money here...we have an area worth protecting!

Actually, Jay is right. While not much oil flows west to east, the amount of product refined in Alberta more than meets Canada's needs, and that flows west to east in plenty.
While it would be nice to see refineries elswhere In Canada get more jobs happening, the fact is there really isn't a huge market for refined product as different countries have differing grades and standards for fuel. So from an economic perspective, we're better off not refining anymore domestically than we already do. That info comes from several people I know working in the oil fields who are not Alberta-centric.
