Myanmar's junta holds referendum despite cyclone crisis

Myanmar's military rulers held a referendum Saturday aimed at solidifying their hold on power while brazenly turning cyclone relief efforts into a propaganda campaign.

I don't understand this. These people desperately need help. What exactly would these generals do if we just went in there and delivered the needed supplies? Not like they have an air force or anything to challenge us. We didn't seem to have a problem going in to "help" the Iraqis, did we? Just drop the stuff in where it's needed and ignore these guys. The people will appreciate it.

Why don't you get on the first plane then? That's what the Brits thought in Rwanda in '94 but an RPG brought down a C-130 killing all on board...

I'd take my chances with our military, my friend. If I had the means to do it, I would. But I don't. But I DO pay taxes to my government who has the means to do it. All it takes is the will.

Bush should have invaded Burma and not Iraq. this military government has killed more people that Sadam Hussain. does not make sence If Bush cares about people this has been a much worce situation, but then if forgot they don't have OIL do they
