Bring the supplies home to America and distribute to the homeless.
When the people of Burma riot and overthrow their government because the aid was not accepted, then we can help them out.

Why would they want to take the U'N.'s AIDS, but not our AIDS. Our AIDS is just as good.

The last thing Burma's government wants is for their people to find out that Americans are kind and generous. It's back to the 1950s when "The Ugly American" book told of American relief supplies being stamped :'Donated by The USSR' in the native language that Americans couldn't read.

New Orleans has a unique spirit you'll not find in many places in this country. It's an old city, one with a diverse history.

Corruption? Where does corruption start? People with power and money cause corruption. The people--the humans that are forced to live under that corruption--give the city it's spirit, it's soul.

Maybe it's no accident that New Orleans and Chicago both contributed some of the best music our country ever produced. Both cities have long been under the thumbs of the Mafia and corrupt politicians.

They are still Americans. I dont agree with what has happened in N.O. either, but I am sick of our Government helping other countries when parts of our own country is in shambles. Stop being such an angry person. This country will never improve with people like you living in it.
<quoted text>
LMAO you know so little about what has happened down there. I was there I helped rebuild some. You wonder why they haven't rebuilt yet? They have recieved more money then gulfport yet have done nothing to improve the situation.

N.O. was a cesspool before katrina now its even worse.

Ever wonder why no one is moving back? Wonder why no one is taking self initiative to rebuild thier homes?

Yea so they can shoot at the heros of this country some more. Sounds like a brillant idea.
In other words who care about N.O. they did it to themselves.
What an insensitive, inhuman, unAmerican thing to say about one of the oldest cities in America! How dare you say N.O. did it to themselves! It is a travesty that our government STILL has not responded and rebuilt one of the most diverse, beautiful cities and yet has the audacity to spend BILLIONS occupying Iraq!
You are a disgrace not only as an American, but as a human. Remember this: Karma is b*tch! Hope you get everything you put out!
What a retarded uneducated thing to say. Have you ever been to N.O.?

It's obvious you have not been there recently. Nor do you know what happened down there during the storm. I lived in Baton Rouge at the time.

Maybe you should learn something about the area before you open your piehole and give you uneducated, idiotic opinion on it.

I agree. The best music actually talks about/expresses something. That's why some musicians lose their "voice" so to speak when they get more and more money (or start out completely as sell-outs like you see on MTV). They have nothing to express when they're tucked safely away in their expensive houses and limos.

I am quite sure that the victims want the aid, but their leaders are against it. While those leaders are eating well and sleeping on their own comfortable bed, people are dying every day from disease and starvation.
Okay, and so here's how it goes -- let THEM get hungry enough and revolt against their oppressors. The world is overpopulated anyhow. This would be a great way to de-populate an already overburdened country. Yawn.

It matters not what a city was like. If we can rebuild the cities of our enemies, why in heaven can't we rebuild the cities on our own soil for our own people?
oh shove it little one..........they had the money to rebuild not the city but the cause of the whole problem..the damn dike, they spent the money on other things..........how many times should the federal government bail out a state problem?wht with all the money they make from just new orlean itself could have paid for it..........i wonder how many palms got greased with the money that was supposed to be spent on fixing the problem

Right on, BluzLady. The US govt. has a fondness for rebuilding other countries, and collapsed bridges here at home when doing so suits corporate agendas. America should always come first.
American dollars for America and Americans first. When all of our cities are rebuilt and their infrastructures updated, and when all of our hungry children are consistently fed and educated, maybe we could give to the rest of the world.
You are completely clueless. Billions of dollars in aid was givin. Everyone that lived there left.

If ya'll wanna comment on what I said with an ounce of credibility maybe you need to go visit N.O. and see what it's like.

N.O. is not what it was, but what it was helped make it what it is.

Also they did do it to themselves. Compare it to Myanmar. In Myanmar most don't have electricity. Most poor families in our country have atleast two televisions. It is not like the people in N.O. didn't have the chance to leave. The busses were there to evacuate but the mayor and the governor failed to act. Due to the bill of rights the states must self govern. LA and N.O. failed to do so and here you idiots blame the feds.

Maybe the prior poster's opinion comes from the fact that crime skyrocketed in the areas that the "victims" relocated to, or the fact that the violence/rape/theft were astronomical. I understand people taking necessities in a life or death situation, but no one needed a big screen tv...they didn't even have power. While it is true that there are innocent people who need help, the bad apples ruined it for the rest. The mayor was also a disgrace in many ways. THAT is why New Orleans does not get the assistance that they demand. Did I mention that the money provided was misused?????

The Myanmar government wants to suppress their people. If they knew that the US was offering assistance, it might destabilize their government.

The real joke is that the US is the primary contributor to UN aid anyway. Have they forgotten that?

I say...disban the UN, and let all of the ungrateful people rot!

I agree! Why should the US get mad that some country does not want our help? The US has turned it's head many times on other countries when they cried out for help - especially those countries in Africa.
but I am sick of the US giving mass amounts of our tax money to countries so they will be our friends - only for this to backfire and now we have another emeny.
How many other countries give big money?? Japan? France? Italy? China, Canada?

I wouldn't let the American military into my country, if I had one. Let the UN deliver our aid packages.
