Thinking Aloud : Myth of Buddhist non-violence - Razi Azmi

May 7, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Daily Times

In a world filled with hate and violence on account of religion, race, ethnicity, etc, Buddhists are no exception, despite their contrary image Buddhism is almost universally regarded as synonymous with peace, tolerance and non-violence. On the other hand, so strong and widespread is the perception of Muslims as the source of intolerance and ... (more)

What bullsh*t article based on selective thinking.Buddhists in Burma are only defending their right to remain Buddhist against the Rohingya illegal immigrants and muslims imported into Burma during the colonial era by the English. The author obviously muslim is ignorant of the true history of how the colonists perpetrated injustice agsinst Burma. or turning blind eye to yruth.

Buddhists are violent in self defense and fighting against evil.

That's right! All that Kung fu and martial arts developed by them was meant to be used in times of great need against evil.

Muslims are evil.

The person who wrote this article is clearly attempting to project Islamic dogma onto Buddhism. There is no violent teachings in the Tipitaka of Theravada . Most people in the countries he is referring to do not read Mahayana texts that he brought up.

However, protecting others and self- defense are not prohibited.

When their women are being raped , their lands invaded or infiltrated, their villages gang-robbed repeatedly, then self-defense or protecting people is needed. Clearly this person purposely left out the actions of perpetrators in an attempt to portray Buddhists as acting for no reason at all.

Think twice the next time you decide to think out loud.

Thanks for letting us know the other side of Buddhism. I was in the impression that Buddhism is not a religion but a belief system which is tolerant of all other beliefs and religions and Buddhism agrees with the moral teachings of other religions. I thought Buddhism is very tolerant and there have never been any wars fought in the name of Buddhism. But I think all religions are same.

Hundred percent agreed. We study history of Islam. It is the bloodiest religion. It can never evolve as it is against human spirit of freedom. Look how muslims are killing each other - and others, who are non-muslim.
Muslims can't think. They are brainwashed from birth.

Don't expect Budfhists, Christians,or Hindus to put up your evil practices. You know nothing about Buddhism. Why don't you study first?

Muslims are dragging every religion into war with them by creating death and destruction every countries they infiltrated ( secretly or openly). What can I say , we are living in samsara with Islam. Compassion in action includes protecting our women from gang- rape and murder, doing something to defend villagers from gang-rob. Being peaceful must not be misunderstood as cowardice or inaction, but it involves skillful actions in appropriate situations. What do peaceful people do when terrorized by brutal Muslims ? Defend and protect !

Buddhists are defending and protecting themselves, Muslims are dragging everybody into battle because they are attacking everybody be it Jews, Buddhists ,Atheists, Hindus, Christians, etc... Get it straight .

Entire non-muslim world must unite against muslims. Muslims in muslim countires is best policy. Don't try to give them democracy. Let them practise their own religion in their own countries. Quarantine them. Just don't let muslims out of their won countries.
Rohingyas and Burmese muslims can emigrate to muslim countries.
