does the newspaper really believe anyone here even knows where Myanmar is?

please.

even the idiot sun sentinel editor had to run the AP copy, he has no idea where the place is either.

I predict no more than 5 comments total for this headline.

Myanmar....hahahahaha...just another place with people darker than us.

It is terrible that the US, the UN and the rest of the world powers do not take any steps to help the 1,000,000 plus people affected by the cyclone and after-effects in Myanmar. It shows real lack of leadership, and it makes each of these nations sound hypocritical when they talk about human rights, etc. The military there can be overthrown internally if the so-called rebels and the religious forces were given some encouragement by the rest of the world. We can waste or time in Iraq, etc. but cannot help the suffering multitudes (I guess our Katrina experiences of lack of action do not give much encouragement to the rest of the world .)

How can the US or UN help? All foreign aid is being filtered by the Myanmar military. The Myanmar government is nothing more than a brutal military junta. This is not much different than most hardline communist countries. No one goes in or out without their permission and those who live there are helpless in utter poverty and misery even before the cyclone. If the US (especially under Bush) would try to fund an internal revolt or support any invasion\takeover the rest of the world would go into an uncontrollable anti-US rage. Moreover, Myanmar is not a threat to the US or US interests so we have no business being there except to provide disaster aid (if accepted). It is a lose-lose situation no matter how the US tries to approach it.

I guess this means the communist Mayanmar Junta has grabbed all the international aid they need for themselves, for now. Thanks.

The Mayanmar communist junta can't decide which member of their gang is going to make the most money from the food aid. This is no different than the war lords in the Sudan, letting food rot while thousands starved. The Third World is a pit. Let's close our borders. Thanks.
