Zin Linn's perspective is at best twist and at worst treasonous to Burma.
Panglong is dead and must be buried. No good living in the past.
Panglong is the very root of all Burma's problems: the need for the military to be caretaker in 1958 and to take over form U Nu in 1962. Tragedy was that BSPP adopted lunatic Burmese Way to Socialism and ruled Burma with iron fist, retarding the growth of human capital most seriously. Burma had lost best brains.
Problems of Burma can be related to all former communist/socialist states like Serbia.
As for the journalist Zin Linn he is rather like a sex abuser, who was himself abused as a child. His time in prison had blinded him to the fundamental truth that Burma as a sovereign state never had to adhere to Panglong. His slave mentality is the result of his unfortunate fate under the repressive military regime. Yet, it is the military leader Senior General Than-Shwe, rather like Oliver Cromwell of England, ushered democracy to Burma.King Chrales' royal absolutism was comparable NeWin's dictatorship. Noble Than-Shwe worked through the system. Zin Linn fails to appreciate it.
In a sense, Zin Linn's mind is like the enslaved Jews of Egypt.
He keeps writing rubbish, hating anything the is Burmese military. He fails to understands that Aung San was duped by evil Clement Attlee. Burmese must look to the future. Not yearning for AungSan. Remember him and worship him for his selflessness - not shared by his daughter at all - but Burmese must look for true leaders of today and tomorrow.
President Thein Sein is doing a good job, however imperfect it may be.
Another thing: who owns and controls Asian Correspondent? An English company? It will always be malevolent to Burma for Burmese never submitted to the English colonist's will. They fought back gallantly. Only because of lack of modern weapons, they lost.
The world's media is in the hands of English and American, mostly. Media is power without responsibility and accountability. The fourth estate is the most powerful in the 21st century. It can destabilise and ruin nation states. The power of English and American media to brainwash the gullible people of the Third World, including Zin Linn, is immense, monumental. Lackeys like Zin Linn must be contained or punished bu Burmese people, if not by the Burmese government. He is an enemy of Burma. A traitor. Ignorant and having the mentality of the frog in the well.
Panglong is dead and must be buried. Zin Linn must reform himself.
Burmese parliament must promulgate a law forbidding the promoting of Panglong.
Someone had tames Mrs. SuuKyi Aris about her Panglong 2. She completely failed to appreciate the terrible legacies of Panglong. Yet, she married an Englishman. People were asking; " how could she have done that after the English killed her father?"
Think about it Zin Linn.
Even Americans understand that Burma is not bound by Panglong. As a sovereign state Burma can evolve its own constitution, good or bad.
Americans evolved their own constitution without the likes of evil Clement Attlee. Americans fouth their war of independence, went through the civil war and got rid of confederacy and got a federal union, which is 'pooling of sovereignty of separate states'. Burma is not America, that started with 13 English colonies. So don't ever dream of United States of Burma! There is no human capital or historical justification. don't suck up to neo-colonists of Eng;land. Even the English establishment does not support Panglong now.
Burma was a unitary kingdom as it had been for many centuries since it was founded 3,000 years ago. There never were separate states. Burma must be unitary sovereign state, where everyone is equal to everyone else regardless of ethnicity.
Problems of Burma are not unique to Burma. All ex-colonies and former communist/socialist states, eg. Serbia, appreciate Burma's problems and the root causes - colonialism!
