Macedonian prime minister Nikola Gruevski and his Greek counterpart George Papandreou spoke for an hour at a meeting in Brussels on the sidelines of the European Council summit, discussing their bilateral dispute over the use of the name Macedonia is a conversation described as "tough" but an ice-breaker in the long-standing imbroglio.

The two sides have been talking for 18 years, and there have been very few signs of progress in settling the dispute.

The amount of effort put into solving the problem has only given them legitimacy in an argument about using a Greek name, from Greek history, to tie themselves to an old Greek area of the world and to invent the most ridiculous claims about their ancestry.

Why should we continue to talk? In 30 years their little country will be part of Kosovo. Isn't that really a much better solution? We stop talking and end any prospects of them entering the EU, entering NATO, and creating a future.

Greece ought to make it clear to everyone that she only participates in those negotiations so that they can go on and an agreement be reached.In fact, all Greece ought to have done long time ago is to remove herself from the negotiations ,submit a formal complaint, to the attention of everyone, that FYROM is playing charade not wanting a solution and trying to usurp the high handily stollen greek symbol/identity because of her irredentist belicose stance towards Greece.
Greece can only say that she objects and that she won't allow that a foreign country/culture/civilisation usurps and uses her symbols and history.
As the FRENCH ARE NOT GERMANS,ENGLISH OR CHINESE SO
THE FYROM MULTI-ETHNIC SOCIETY ARE NOT DESCENDANTS OF THE ANCIENT MACEDONIANS.
