Malahan, rakyat Iraq sendiri tidak akan jadi kaya raya dengan IQD ini melainkan beberapa peratus sahaja.

**Don’t Fall for the Iraqi Dinar Currency Scam**

The Iraqi dinar "investment" opportunity is a scam that has been around for a few years and has recently been regaining much of its former popularity. The opportunity is pitched as a way to profit from a nearly worthless Iraqi dinar that is "sure" to appreciate in the future. The scammers promise that millions of dollars in profits are virtually guaranteed if you buy the dinar at today's values (about 1,000 dinar to one US dollar) and then exchange the dinars back for dollars at a later date once the dinar exchange rate has improved.

However, there are some fundamental problems with the Iraqi dinar scam that potential buyers should be aware of before they begin investing in one of the most illiquid currency markets in the world.

Lack of Registration

It is illegal in the US, Malaysia or other countries and in most other major economies to market an investment without appropriate securities registration. The scammers get around this requirement in two ways. First, it is technically legal to sell hard currency for its numismatic value. In other words, it is possible to sell hard currency as a "collector's item." Second, for example - some dealers will register with the US Treasury as a money service business (MSB).

Registering as an MSB is something that dinar dealers will do to put on the appearance of registration and government oversight. However, the difference between a legitimate MSBs and dinar dealers is that a real MSB is not marketing an investment. So ask yourself; if a business has to lie to get around registration, are they really making a legitimate offer?

***Dinars Are Sold on Misleading Hype***

The potential value of an investment in dinar is often illustrated with references to what happened to the Kuwaiti dinar following the first Gulf War and the German deutschmark following World War II. These would be good examples except neither one was a free-floating currency at the time, so the value was mostly a function of policymaking and official currency management. It is also a fact that no rational investor would base an investing decision on two instances of past data (more than 60 years in the past) without considering all the times this investing strategy did not pay off.

Will the Iraqi government pursue a policy of currency appreciation in the future? Since an appreciating currency makes funding your brand new government and paying off past debts more expensive, it seems unlikely. An economy in Iraq's situation is more likely to experience a currency crash or intentional devaluation than a sudden and dramatic reflation.

In fact, more recent currency history would seem to show that it is more likely that the dinar will depreciate further in the near term. The fallacy that dinar dealers are relying on is that a growing economy will result in a stronger currency. That is not the case. As the recent examples of Venezuela, Turkey, and Mexico show, a growing economy is as likely to be accompanied by an inflating (weakening) currency as not.

Many dinar dealers refer to the value of the Iraqi dinar prior to the 1990 Kuwaiti invasion (One dinar =$3+ US dollars) as evidence that the potential for the dinar is theoretically unlimited. They don't mention that the pre-1990 dinar has been demonetized (worthless) and that its value was arbitrarily set by an autocratic regime led by Saddam Hussein. Following the embargo, the ability for the Iraqi government to manage its currency's value collapsed and it spent the next ten years at 2,000 - 3,500 dinar to the US dollar.

Still got no clue...missing something or blurrr?

****Iraq Dinar Scam is back****

Iraq Dinar scam is back following a rumour that Central Bank of Iraq has announced their plans to redenominate the Iraqi Dinar. This is in order to increase the strength level of the Iraqi currency, which will allow people to carry less paper money. By the end of 2010, they intend to drop three zeros from the nominal value of bank notes. That means that 1,000 IQD (pre-redenomination) and 1 dinar (post-redenomination) will both be worth the same amount in US Dollars.

Iraq Dinar speculation has been around since a new Dinar has been introduced in 2003. Speculator will sell their item in bulk with a statement from Iraq news that Iraq Dinar value will be going up one day. One of the reason most of this speculator will be saying is that Iraq is the second largest oil reserve holder in the world. 95% of Iraq revenue come from oil export. They were saying that Iraq will gain its independence one day and Iraq economy will be bounce back. At that time, all Iraq Dinar holder will gain profits by trading their Iraq Dinar. The news that the speculator reported as a good news for Iraq Dinar, they're no single source or link that come from Iraq government or any news agency (some quote a news by reuters in Wikipedia, but the link is from a website: radio free Iraq?).

****ASK URSELF****

Where do you sell your Iraq Dinar? The truth is, there is no legitimate market that will buy any of your dinar outside Iraq. Some people suggest that we can trade Iraq Dinar via online banking? Do you know that you cannot trade it via banks or money changers outside Iraq? Buying Iraq Dinar will be easy but selling them will be a big problem. Most of the Iraq Dinar trader in US registered with the U.S. Treasury as a Money Service Business.

Some speculator even show the historical value of the Dinar. They were speculating that Independence might help Iraq to gain its value near its historical value before gulf war. Is that for real? I think to anyone who want to believe anything about that should read this statement by CNN money expert in 2004, Walter Updegrave:

"The economic prospects for a country that determine the future value of its currency, not the price it trades at now or the price it traded at in the past. And no matter how low a value a currency reaches, it can always go lower." Source: CNN

The only people who really gaining profit from this speculation is the first person who started this Iraq Dinar trading. Before you invest on anything, make sure that you can sell them. Unless there is a legal way to sell your Dinar, this speculation will always be one of the biggest Internet scam.

****Iraqi Dinar Scam-Beware!!****

The new Iraqi Dinar is now being claimed to be the hottest investment opportunity. So called ‘dealers’ are all over the internet selling the new Iraqi Dinar. For most of the ‘dealers’ or scammers the fact assisting them in their illegal trade is the exchange rate of the USD and the new Iraqi Dinar. The present exchange rate is $1.00 USD will buy anyone approximately 1475 new Iraqi Dinars.
This exchange rate was quite the opposite during the Saddam regime, when $1.00 USD would be able to buy just 0.33 Iraqi Dinar.
Comparing both the scenarios would imply that in the present situation buying the Iraqi Dinar would be a great investment opportunity. But scrutinizing the facts would reveal the true picture behind the Iraqi Dinar scam.
Fact 1: Once you have bought the Iraqi Dinar, it will almost impossible to trade the Iraqi Dinar back into any other form of currency. The fact is that the Iraqi Dinar cannot and is not freely traded on the world market.
Fact 2: It is also worth mentioning here that it is the new Iraqi Dinar which is now the official currency of Iraq. Earlier the old Iraqi Dinar was in circulation. There have been cases wherein scammers have actually sold the old Iraqi Dinar to their victims. Since even the new Iraqi Dinar cannot be traded freely on the world market, the old Iraqi Dinar will only find its buyer in the form of a collector of old currency.
Fact 3: Although Iraq is the second richest nations in terms of oil reserves, this natural resource will not help in supporting the ‘investment opportunity’ provided in the form of buying the new Iraqi Dinar. Whenever anyone is buying the currency of a country, one is investing in the entire economy of that particular country. Hence, this implies that if one buys the Iraqi Dinar, one is essentially investing in the economy of Iraq. And any economy totally dependent on its oil reserves is a unstable economy in itself.
Based on the above mentioned facts, if one still desires to invest their money in the Iraqi Dinar scam, please note that this would mean locking up that amount of money until the exchange rate of USD in comparison to the new Iraqi Dinar changes, and there is no hope this will happen.
