Hey FL! It is a sound business practice.
Just not what he preaches.
"make the rich pay their fair share"
Maybe Dayton will be honest enough to PRACTICE WHAT HE PREACHES.
But I doubt it. His is a liberal and dishonest.
And runs like a girl.
Jeff, I agree with you. I don't think it's ethical to do this. But, as with many liberals, they're conservative and downright frugil with their own money. Hence the sound business practice statement. I personally do not understand how they differentiate between the two sources (taxpayer and trust fund) on money when they devise a strategy.

GOP chairman Tony Sutton pressed Wednesday for Dayton to release more information about his family's trusts and voluntarily pay Minnesota money from earnings on the accounts. Dayton's campaign quickly responded that the GOP was relying on outdated information and he has no current offshore holdings.

I think that we should have a referendum that requires any candidate for office to make no more then $80,000 year. I also think that this income cap should state that the candidates need to be at this level or less for at least 3 years.

I think then, we will get candidates that will finally understand how the rest of the state actually lives and begin to propose laws and policies that benefit the whole, rather then the few.

Also, no campaign should spend any more than the top salary of the job. It makes no sense to spend millions of dollars on a job that pays only $120,000 per year.

Maybe if these idiots can afford this type of campaigning, then they don't need a salary!

The moment Tom Emmer releases his own tax return I will take this attack into consideration. Until then, I will assume he is just as dirty as the man he accuses of being dirty.

I read that as well. But do note the lawyer language. Offshore, but no mention about other states.

Not a bad idea. Sound. Rational. Of course, you do realize that Emmer, Dayton, and Horner all make more than $80,000 a year, right?

The Dayton Tax curfuffle is just more politics, the expressed intent of course is to make the election about taxes rather than how to fix the state's budget - a question Tom Emmer has continued to aovid answering, which is why Emmer won't get my vote no matter what Dayton looks like. I will also remind our Republican friends that voters have alternative choice to Emmer AND Dayton. Horner has actually done quite well during the debates; so smeering Dayton still doesn't mean Emmer is a shoe in. And Horner is quite right about Emmer too - he's the only politician in this race that had a chance to resolve the budget crisis and he didn't get it done. And now he isn't telling us how he would get this budget deficit done either. So, let's not have that Republican parade yet. Emmer is still a loser, and we have another choice if Dayton goes down. Thank God for third parties.

The point you miss is that Dayton's entire campaign message is to get rich minnesotans to "pay their fair share". Dayton seems to think that his own rhetoric does apply to himself.

This is so typical of Republicans - throw out some "mud" and even tho it doesn't stick, it leaves a stain. But, it's o.k. for Emmer not to release his income tax forms. I would be curious to know how much $$$ charity groups have received from Emmer. Republicans live by double standards.
This is so typical of Demthuglicrats - find ways to evade paying taxes yet want to raise taxes on the ones who do pay. Demthuglicrats live by double standards.

Someone had better check Tarryl Clark's taxes too. I found out today she wants to raise the cigarette tax another .62 a pack. Same goes for Horner who wants to raise them another $1.50 a pack. I'd also like to know how much ALAMN, ClearWay and Big Medicine money they are getting.

These are not the only 2 running.....Horner is who Im going to vote for, we need to show the 2 pig parties that the people can and will change their outlook on who they want running this state. Horner is a good middle of the road type person and that is what this state and country need. We need to rein in the pig parties...to start hearing what the people want.
