Unfortunately, the Black Africans and Moslems who originally sold their ancestors did not maintain records so the trail dies out at the shipment points in Africa. The governments of Guinea, etc are doing this as a tourist draw trying to suck in people in search of their roots. They'd be better off trying for a DNA comparative study to at least identify the tribe they may be affiliated with.

Are you african or american.If you're african go home if you're american how ya doing.I have a black freind who applied for disabality.When they asked him his ethnicty he said black.So the lady on the phone said,( you mean african american).He said ,(no i mean black no one in my family i know has ever been to africa).THAT'S AN AMERICAN!The only reason ethnicity question even exsist is to seperate us as a people.You're either american or not american.We are the great melting pot i myself have german english french and indian desendences.I have a step-daughter who english and african decendences.So effing what we're american end of story.We have to concentrate on what brings us together not what seperates us.

it is indeed sad that most african americans believe their heritage starts with slavery, but what is more disturbing is the acceptance in our community of the so-called kwanza celebration. it is not an african tradition, so along with learning our history before slavery we must acknowledge that kwanzaa has nothing to do with africa. it is a christmas holiday dressed in blackface, plain and simple.
