Why on Earth is this man waiting for his daughter to call HIM? Can HE not pick up the phone and call HER? Does he not know that men who batter women also often do whatever they can in order to isolate these women from friends and family? The mere mention of "retreat into secrecy" is a VERY GOOD indication of this! Better yet... why doesn't he get on the next plane and find out what in the WORLD is going on with his daughter that she would remain with a man who abuses her! Has it not occurred to him that his daughter is NOT SAFE with someone who would punch, bite and choke her? NO ONE should be laying a finger on his daughter! What kind of father would sit at home and WAIT for HER to call HIM? It's no wonder that she believes this sort of behavior should be so quickly dismissed and tolerated... apparently her own FAMILY doesn't think it warrants any action either! If this man cares one bit about his daughter he had best hop on a plane QUICK... or he may just end attending her funeral instead! NO ONE should assume that she is OK or that ANYONE is helping her... ESPECIALLY when other news stories suggest that he is being coddled and supported by HIS friends and family! WHO is there to support and protect HER? WHO? OPRAH?
