On 15.7.2008 evening my heart was near weeping seeing municipality truck picking up fruits and vegetables of Bangladeshi vendors near Last Chance Manama. Their crime being that some locals had sold them a so called "free visa" and left them to wander here and there in search of livelihood. My heart was not weeping on miseries of these poor people but on the helplessness of the Law. My compatriots when go back to their country they very proudly but in fact wrongly tell their family and friends how Bahrain and other regional countries have respect of law and every one there is treated with one eye. The tears in my eyes were seeing that only three yards, repeat three yards away, were a similar number of fish vendors doing business again in violation of same health and municipality laws but this truck had not the remotest courage even to see towards them. Not only this truck but even our Shura members or whosoever mighty can touch those fish sellers. May it be Ministry of Labour or label is LIMERA, not only the fate of these poor will remain the same but also the earnings of some on the basis that they can apply, get and sell visa will ever remain. It is a fact the more the authorities spiritlessly create new rules the more in fact innocently they open new doors of corruption. Last year G.D.N brought a big size news that some parents "complained" to Pakistan Embassy that Pakistan School admitted their children, got fees but the Course for which children were admitted was not available with the university in Pakistan. The parents complained or they were "advised" to complain does not matter. In reply the School explained to the G.D.N that those students were admitted forcibly under pressure of Pakistan Embassy as then the School was under the control of Embassy. The school explained that these selective students were admitted only to give them status of students enabling them to remain in Bahrain. On basis of a school student these children were able to get residence permit after their 18 years age. This new door was opened when authorities irrationally refused to renew resident permits to over 18 children not caring where these children without parents will go. Such unwise and irrational policies open doors of corruption and create opportunities for some while on the other hand force people to break law. Today Global Institute has turned itself a currency churning machine by admitting such 18 above children as students. In large quantities such students are enrolled and their daily attendance is shown while these children are actually not studying. To know the fact the list of all students above 18 can be taken and through their CPR/Passport numbers feeding in the immigration computers it can be seen if the computer shows these students present in Bahrain or Out since when and compare this with daily attendance register of Global Institute. The public policies in welfare countries like that of Bahrain need to be rational facing the naked facts whether it for Bangladeshi foot path vegetable sellers or stay of children above 18 with their parents.
