From the Article:

"...Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Monday the Obama administration is nearing a decision in the next few weeks on how many U.S. troops would remain in Afghanistan — and for what purposes — after the U.S.-led combat mission ends in 2014."

Yes, what the hell are the troops doing in Afghanistan, 9/11 was over eleven years ago. It never made sense to invade a failed State back then. To chase a shadow, a loosely defined idea called Terrorism arbitrarily labeled on some group while the same means and tactics labels another group as "freedom fighters" by the 6 O'clock News.

From the Article:

"The Obama administration has made much of its "pivot" to the Asia-Pacific, which has entailed more high-level diplomatic and security engagements and an attempt to expand cooperation with Australia and others in the region. But it is not fundamentally different from what the administration of President George W. Bush..."

So, nothing much changed since Bush, wars and more wars and so many delusional voters opted for Obama to avoid a repeat of the Bush years. Four years of Obama would show despite the rhetoric the troops are still in Iraq and Afghanistan and further ventured afield into new territories in North Africa and Northern Pakistan. Using slightly different tactics of proxies like the so called "freedom fighters" such as the Muslim Brotherhood as well as unmanned drones.

Will Australia be wise enough to avoid getting embroiled in these catastrophic adventures that only fail in the end. Will Australia show some spine, past indications are not good.

There's no Leadership in our leaders they are leading us to the abyss. The change if, it ever comes will be from the grass roots to askew pursuit of power at all costs and instead replace it with mutual responsibility.
