The big F debate is on full forces in my town again. Had a dentist (former president of the ADA) in damage control on the radio today extolling the virtues. I happen to know the radio presenter is totally against fluoridation but he's a real Pro and remains neutral on everything, while letting the callers say it for him... because he knows they will.

Anyway, he let the dentist have his say, then bought listeners on the phone to ask the dentist questions... by the time the callers had finished with him he just could not answer or refute the hard ones.

When he was questioned about fluorosis, the offhanded matter-of-fact way he addressed this problem was all about how dentists corrected the damage by capping and coating. It didn't matter that damage had occurred, it only mattered that with "several treatments" dentists could cover it up.

Then he was asked about fluorosis of the bones - his answer was "that didn't happen often". What about all the people with arthritis and later on diagnosed with fluorosis? His answer, there isn't any research to prove that.

Then he was asked about all the countries removing it from their water - he replied that every country has their own ideas and reasons for doing that.

Only brain-dead idiots would have believed anything he had to say.

And NO member of the ADA here will ever debate with Prof Paul Connett who is the leading expert on fluoride and waste management world wide. They've refused every invitation from him.

Thanks Got for your input. I found it reassuring to read your post. And its good to hear people are doing their own research into things instead waiting for other people to do the hard yards.

Public Health Ethics 2012,
1-12 (advanced access published August 21, 2012)

Ethics of Artificial Water Fluoridation in Australia:
Niyi Awofeso, School of Population Health, University of Western Australia, and School of Public Health, University of New South Wales, Australia

"The author concludes that there is insufficient ethical justification for artificial water fluoridation in Australia."

"In Australia, the industrial grade fluosilicic acid is the most commonly used chemical for artificial water fluoridation"

"There is little epidemiological evidence to suggest that widespread adoption of water fluoridation has translated into substantial reduction in caries prevalence in Australia"

"To date, there is no evidence to support the assertion that water fluoridation reduced social disparities in caries incidence in Australia or internationally"

If anyone's interested - Pro Paul Connett will also be on 4BC this morning after 10pm talking about the dangers of fluoridation - he lecturers world wide on fluoride and waste management and is considered the expert on these subjects.

I'm assuming he'll be on 'after' these two...

Greg Carey Show

Fluoride: the facts

4BC Mornings: Immediate Past President of the Australian Dental Association, Queensland Branch, and practising dentist, Dr Andrew Wong, joins Greg Cary with the facts on Fluoride. Listen now and join the conversation.

So you are saying you know more about this subject than a Prof of Chemistry who has researched and studied fluoride for over 30 years, who lectures at a NY University on this subject, and lectures WORLD WIDE on this subject?

Very obvious your delusions of grandeur and level of self-importance have now escalated out of control - I'm sure there'd be a pill you could take for that, one containing Fluoride of course because that's an ingredient in most anti-depressants and anti-psychotics.

So you 'have' become my personal troll then?

Ok, then you need educating to be able to do the job properly.(Seems labour certainly isn't fussy about the quality and mentality of its paid detractors - or the morals of its MPs.)

First - the word is you've... short for 'you have'. It is NOT "your've".

Second - the word is you're... short for 'you are'. It is NOT "your".

Third - a capital letter is used at the beginning of a sentence.

Fourth - your joined overly repetitive words, "knuckledragging" and "braindead" need to be separated by a hyphen to have more impact. But I suggest you extend your vocabulary and find some new words as repetition becomes very boring.

Fifth - your verbal diarrhoea can be easily treated with a good detox. Try drinking a glass of water with 10ppm of fluoride added. That should do the trick.

Friendly advice - when you are insulting somebody, please do it with more class. I know it's hard for somebody like you who has no idea of class, but practice makes perfect.

Happy to be of service.

Council votes to continue fluoridation of Gympie’s water
Source: The Gympie Times
December 13th, 2012

GYMPIE region residents will be denied the chance to make their own decision on continued fluoridation of council water supplies, despite concerns by the Local Government Association of Queensland.

A motion by Cr Ian Petersen to suspend fluoridation pending a referendum, drew ridicule from many councillors and was only supported by Mary Valley councillor Julie Walker.
