I have watch the USA hemorrhage manufacturing jobs for the last 10 years straight due to oppressive environmental regulations and prohibitive labour costs....in the real world.
The problem isn't that folks don't want to work. The problem is that the folks with capital do not want to risk it in nations experimenting with hard left socialist policies unless there is a chance at a substantial return....which is pretty much zero in all of the western nations at this time.
At some point in the near future both Australia and the USA will be forced to abandon these fantastic dreams of building an egalitarian green utopia in favour of allowing the citizens to earn a living.
"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money [to spend]."
I am with you Zaius - bring back slavery - that will get us back on our feet !

There-in lies the problem....the people who have created the impression that the left wants a "egalitarian green Utopia" are the people who profit from irresponsibly basing their bottom line on fucking up the environment.....and they don't. I have no time for greenie nutjobs and tree-huggers...and I have less time for arsoles that dump toxic shit everywhere because they are to greedy and irrisponsable to things properly........so, who's espousing these supposed "socialist doctrines" ?....I don't see them.

I have been proving you fools wrong for some years now....not by gas-bagging on forums likes this , but in the real world....beleive it or Zaius, there is still more than enough people willing to roll-up the sleeves and get busy......you won't see them while sitting in you ivory tower , though !....(lol)
FOO have a look at this site and the links, it probably proves both of us wrong.

In Australia, average real wages were rising up until June 1984. The real rate of wages growth had been around 4% between 1969 to 1975. Then it slowed to 0.6% until 1983 when Australia floated its dollar. It jumped more than 8% in the year to June 1984 following the float, when the value of the Australian dollar declined rapidly. In the six years from June 1984 to June 1990, average real wages declined at an average rate of more than 1.6% per annum. Since then, average real wages have been rising at about 1.4% per annum. Despite this improvement, the rate of real wages growth is less than half the rate of the 1960’s and 70’s. Average real wages did not return to their June 1984 levels again until June 2003. That is, Australia experienced nineteen years without any growth in average real wages above 1984 levels. Average real weekly wages for Australian workers are shown in the Figure 2. As minimum wages are regulated in Australia, Australian workers did not experience the same dramatic reduction in wages as in the USA.

If we still had a union movement that done its job properly , wages and conditions would be at acceptable levels , and any business that was run correctly would work with it.It took the conservatives a hundred years to fuck up the unions , but in the end they succeeded......and now everyone looses....including business......but , corporate profit levels have never been better , and these bloodsuckers do nothing else but run around the floor on the stock exchange , wearing funny clown suits, and place bets, for their boss, who sits his fat arse in a leather chair somewhere......money for nothing !....give nothing!.....produce nothing!.....take everything!

Quantative easing is a deceptive euphemism for the reserve bank to create money out of fresh air to prop up corrupt banks and lending institutions and at the same time increasing inflation and devalue a currency.
Thanks Sid ,it's a wonder they are not in jail because we would be if we tried it so they are above the laws of the land they rip off.
