I agree, that Australia feels like a police state.
I love Australia and was born and bred, but have also traveled alot and lived overseas on and off for around 10 years. Where I feel much more free.
When in oz, I feel oppressed. The taxation system and paperwork compliance is really tough and time consuming on anyone trying to run a small business.
Plus any lapse in driving/parking or payment of some government expense, will see a fine coming your way very quickly.
Yes, it a lovely but bureaucratically oppressive country.
It all comes down to a very limited and small group of anglo convicts that have a stronghold in this country; they serve and obey their master the queen and because of that, they are given the "divine" power to say and do whatever they feel doing in here; if anyone wants to come here, or wants to do business here, the only requisite is that you serve and obey one or two of these convicts, to achieve this objective, they have developed the most ridiculous and stupid bureaucratic system of permits", licences, applications, certificates, conditions, clearances, etc. etc. etc.; but at the end it all comes down to the same corrupt end. all roads lead to Rome.
If you are smart enough to fool these convicts in power and make them feel like they are in charge, then you will be successful. If you don't "report to them" may aswell forget about even trying, they will block you one way or another.

If you don't like how we do things, you're welcome to leave this country at any time you like. If you don't like the way things are done here, you won't like it in Europe or North America either. Why? Because you're a third world piece of shit with no brains..

Why don't you just leave Alex ? I know why its because the USA or any other nation does not want you and anyway you won't like it there.

You are just a born loser and try and blame other people for your flaws.
Then whole rest of your life is going to suck too.

I have been all over the world for the last 20 years working an travelling. I was away from Australia for a 6 year period experiancing the world and working my ass off.

I have to say that I was shocked when I came back

Nanny State?? Maybe, before. It has gone a long way past that now. Australia is a country that the libralists have run into the ground by claiming that all it's residents are complete idiots and needing to 'idiot proof' everyone's lives. In other words, Australia is the only country that I have seen in the world that formulates policy and law based on the 'lowest common denominator'. If someone slips on a tile, they that is now banned, the owner is liable and the area needs to be shut down.

When I was a younger we used to laugh at the litigiousness of the US. We have now surpassed them by far and not our benefit.

I am an Australian born and bred, and deeply proud of being an Australian. Unfortunately, I now choose not to be in Australia, as I am embarrassed that I cant take a picture of my kids at a park without being accused of being a pedophile.

Rise up Aussies. Let's take our lives back.

Taxes are through the roof and the cost of living is out of control.
Australia is a really horrible place to live and I've decided that if I ever have enough money I will leave it and go to live in Asia or South America.
Australians are really weird people. They seem to suffer from Stockholm syndrome where they are in love with their oppressors. All you ever hear in Australia is what heroes the police are or how the government needs to "do more". It's positively sickening.
What are your thoughts on Australia? Police state? Nanny state? Or, do you like it?
Agree completely, good post. Anyone on here who sticks up for the fascist country needs to get a passport and do some travelling. I left 12 years ago now live in Canada there is no way i would move back. I keep up with Australian news and find myself shaking my head A LOT! I find it hilarious that the media made such a big deal over Rudd coming back into power because as we all know IT DOES NOT MATTER they are all the same and nothing changes. How long before Australia brings in a certain salute for their leader?

oh ok so i see you're fully qualified to make that statement.

Look its not about me or where i live or what i have decided to do about it, its just really sad to me to see a country i once loved be destroyed by a handful of bureaucrats who say they know best but are really looking after their own interests. The worst thing is watching the Australian people lay down and take it with absolutely no fight.

Yes I agree with a lot of what you say! Some of the reason for this 'nanny state' is Australia's obsession with making money and the rich trying to oppress the defenceless people! Also the media are pigs in Australia who are responsible for the crap nanny state syndrome that you speak of! You only gotta look at Australian TV content!

Also the three levels of government are scamming the people with fines and taxes. In country has turned into a complete sh!thole over last 10 years and I don't blame you for wanting to leave!

Australia is very much a police state

Because the people are NATURALLY cowardly, you often see no protest or unrest when the draconian government passes crazy laws

They took Australias guns away in a flash, and there wasnt even a whimper

They put surveillance up in cities , and nobody said a thing

They monitored electronic communication and the people rejoiced

Its a dumbed down nation of pussies, racists and fuckups

lol; even when politicians, cops or even judges turn bad and do incredible f*k ups, due to their low life racist prejudices; NO ONE dares say a thing, no body;; the so called human rights advocates are no more than their B*tches to whom they pay to keep quiet; they fill their dirty mouths claiming to fight for human rights, but the only purpose is to get millions in grants, they know well who is boss; and they would not dare challenge a decision by their masters; these human rights lawyers are no more than a bunch of w*nkEr cowards using that to make money from the low life convicts in charge; just look at Julian Assange. I have not heard any Australian comment about the injustice that he is been subjected to, they all comment about drug dealers caught overseas; I wonder is because of their convict history.
