I agree with you completely.

No one can ever imagine the damage pranks can cause,
including death.
These two morons caused a woman to take her life
because of their stupidity.
Their punishment should be 2 years minimum
in prison and never be able to work in any kind
of media for the rest of their lives.
The family should sue everyone involved with the
radio station and show.
The judgement should be high enough to put them out
of business, permanently.
That's the LEAST that should happen because of this
thoughtless, inane fiasco.

This nurse would've lost her job for being fooled into breaching confidentiality. Coupled with the media frenzy it's clear how the pressure could crack you.

How'd you feel to study for years, then slave away doing shift work to help people only to have jerks breaking the law impersonating someone else to elicit information that results in your career being over?

Those DJs are human scum, as is that whole organization and the sick culture that fosters their stupidity.

Your an indian
This Indian woman(not british) was very unstable and obviously suffered from a mental illness, as a stable person would of laughed this prank of, whats not being told is the jerk employer who had no sense of humour and no doubt told her off, theres the crucial difference, a good employer would of laughed with her, an a**hole employer would verbally abuse her, which I bet is what happened.

The hospital had their hands tied and had to act.

"Your an Indian" says the illiterate. You meant "you're" dear. Last time I checked I had blonde hair and blue eyes, hardly Indian. Your pathetic grasp of the English language has me questioning your origins.

Ermmm...as much as I hate that pair of idiots (and others like them) they are not directly responsible for anything but a lowlife prank.
I hope her family sues & gets a good win against them too, but in the end there was only one person responsible for that ultimate decision, the nurse herself.
I would agree the nurse killed herself however this radio station has a history of performing stunts and pranks on people which backfire and they apologise later for what they did! They then continue to re affend when their listeners forget. Kyle Sandilands 12yr old girl rape scandle plus other pranks were performed at 2day FM radio station owned by the Southern Cross Austereo network. They have a history of this SHOCKJOCK type of behaviour which requires tighter broardcasting laws to stop it. Its clear that a line has been crossed when a prank call results in a person killing themselves. Its not acceptable!

It's tempting to blame to the royals but there are some complications.
I made no mention of the royals themselves, merely the sausage-heads who are infatuated in them.

Prior to being admitted, Kate's security contingent would have staked out the hospital and interviewed senior hospital administrators over access to Kate. We aren't talking about some buff bodyguard with air between the ears, all the British royal family are also protected by the British secret service. The royal family is a British institution and the level of security surrounding movement is far more serious than the public realise.
But a couple of Australian radio DJs managed to ring the hospital. Calls get traced by the police here in Australia over matters most people would consider far more trivial.

The fact is the Royals simply don't get involved in security matters. All this is handled by MI5. It would be interesting to find out if the nurse in question was actually debriefed on protocols or was a contract nurse doing shift work? there may be more investigation going on about the hospital administration communication than the media is letting on.
In any case, you'd expect that there'd be a more stringent protocol that would weed out a couple of Australians affecting an RP British accent? The Sydney DJs wouldn't be the only ones in the whole of history who have attempted to prank-call those who service the royals.

But apparently she didn't lose her job, and wasn't even disciplined.

Admittedly dead people don't make the type of nurses that a hospital would want but she wasn't sacked.

There have possibly been thousands upon thousands of prank-calls made by radio DJs worldwide ever since radio was invented and no-one had a strong opinion on them until now.

Let's campaign to ban pranks worldwide because there was one over-publicised and unintended adverse reaction involving the royals and a nurse who may or may not have been predisposed to suicide before the prank?

The calls went through to the inquiry/reception line which channels regular hospital calls. The issue isn't about the dropkick DJs doing a prank call to an open public line. The issue was the senior nurse divulging personal information to a unkown caller. The two pertinent questions remain;
- should the junior nurse get instructions on communications protocols with the royals?
- why did the senior nurse not go through standard protocols and ask the caller for ID to confirm their identity (even if the caller was claiming to be the queen).
If this was about humiliation over a mistake you'd think the senior nurse was the one who broke the hospital regulations and not Jacinta Saldanha. Yet Jacinta Saldanha was the one who committed suicide? something does not add up.

So you find that low brow crap funny? I've never laughed once at these stupid prank calls. One of the sickest I heard was when they called a young woman impersonating police and told her that her husband had been arrested for DUI. She burst into tears and was saying how she could ask her parents for bail money. Nothing funny about humiliating and traumatizing people, in fact it's fucking sick.

When it's breaking the law (see: fraud) then yeah, it's wrong dumb dumb. These people are breaking the law everytime they pretend to be someone they're not, especially authority figures (police, Royals, for example).
