If these people were indoctrinated with Jihadism the first time they were converted there would be no Bali, there would be no NTT, there would be no headhunting Dayak people in the mountains of Borneo or they would have stopped the missionaries in Ambon because they believe in Jihad. but they didn't did they? They wouldn't have let the Portuguse to land on the island and spread Catholicism in the island<quoted text>
islam spread to Indonesia long ago - I think before the 16th century. By the end of that century it dominated Indonesia and supplanted the Hindi and Buddhist religions, except for Bali.
The argument about how many people are capable of 'reading' the koran is irrelevant because the muz will say that because general mo was illiterate it's ok to memorize it only. That's what all of their little schools are for - to memorize the koran.
They would also stay that learning to read it in any other language than arabic won't maintain its "purity". Hence their "need" to "teach" it orally.
They coexist, side by side just like those in my island. Ambon and Poso conflict all happened after these Arabs came.
