...10 years ago when explosive news came out about child abuse, what did the Liberals do? Nothing.

They were too busy making Hollingworth Governor General.

Yet, mainstream society I'm sure has a higher incidence of these depravities. Reported and not reported.

And, of course the issue is far worse in the non-West

Let's hope the issue is sorted though in the Catholic Church. Good to see.

As the West de-Christianizes, expect to see increasingly more focus on the Christianity's woes.

The Catholic church has had more than enough opportunity and time to sort this crap out.....as usual , no hard decisions are never taken by Liberals unless its to increase their own wealth, and the wealth of their corporate supporters.
yeah right

Ultimately, we will completely de-Christianize, depopulate and de-Westernize. Socialist cultural mores have prevailed across global Western civilization, post-WW2. It's been a good 500 years or so, though!

So, to be fair to the planet, time to throw it all away. After all, we do realize that other cultures/civilizations are equal, if not better than ours (ours, which is not worth preserving). Every true democratic socialist is blessed with such higher thought. And, the multiple cults that we've happily introduced to our lands, assimilation naturally not necessary in this enlightened age (as diversity - not national unity - being paramount), will sort out the West's long term future.

Bravo someone has called an investigation into the churches. But who expects to see the final report before 2016.

Foo you should read about the cults that were given religious status by Hawke & Keating due to international agreements they signed. ALP in vic passed legislation allowing religious groups to legally discriminate when employing people.

politicians everywhere (except china) seem to put religion into the "too hard basket". Lets hope we will be breaking that trend.

Hope Muslins are included with the Doctors that circumsise young girls. Remember Gillard is a friend of the Muslin community so she might try to excuse them.

I think gillard is trying to use this as a Political tool, if so she will find herself in hot water. The inquiry is well over due and should go ahead without a Labor Judge or Commissioner who plays Gillards Political game. Tony Fitzgerald would be the man he is ruthless and non political, and the jail houses will be full up including some of those Irish Labor MP's who have protected the catholic church. What about the Labor Unions that have received complaints from young apprentices regarding bastardization and done nothing. This inquiry will blow all these pedophiles out of hiding...So long as it has no borders and the proper commissioner at the helm.

I have always believed in a separation of church and state. Most religions have some degree of political influence naturally , because many voters can be influenced by their spiritual leaders , and ultimately , all politicians would eat their own shit to get the most votes.I hope this enquiry is as transparent and non political , as they claim it will be........also hope the media has a bit more respect in the way they report it.....we'll see.

The Irish X-Unionist that abound in the Australian Labor Party is an indication of how much anger Gillard will create in her ranks. Irish Catholics are different to us normal Catholics, they are bigoted as is the IRA in Ireland, they will rain fire and brim stones on Gillard. Certainly we need a royal commission without a doubt, but Gillard has made the big mistake to placing to much emphasis on the Catholic Church and her Irish Ministers and Back Benchers will punish her for that severely. Keeping in mind that Gillard is an Admitted practicing Atheist, with previous strong attachments to the communist Party. Will the Commissioner or the Judge be and Irish Catholic,or an Atheist with strong Socialist/Communist views.

Exactly right.....the media has the morals of a pedophile. The Royal Commission is years overdue , and is inclusive. To a certain degree , this will be a test for the media....they could very well show their true lack of credibility .......hopefully both sides of politics will resist the temptation of trying to score cheap points from such an issue.......no comment from any loudmouth muslim clerics so far , they must be far more worried than any other group......the commision should be allowed to tear a few pages out of the koran if they want !

Next let's have royal commissions into Iraq war evidence, government complicity in the wheat for weapons scandal and children overboard.

"PRIME Minister Julia Gillard has agreed to a royal commission into institutional responses to allegations of child abuse in Australia."

All institutions? If so this RC could take a decade. A lot of abuse of kids in state run institutions. Private boarding schools. but I digress. back to catholic bashing.

Good to see the ABC have kicked off the catholic bashing on the Drum.

The leftist media is progay and the catholic church is anti gay, so the progay media highlights the catholic church hoping to destroy there influence.
