At this very minute in time, there are 22,718,949 people in Australia. At this rate we will be 23,000,000 in the not so distant future. In the 10 minutes I've been watching it our population increased by 24.
----------

POPULATION CLOCK in real time:

On 29 September 2011 at 00:32:21 (Canberra time), the resident population of Australia is projected to be:

22,718,949

This projection is based on the estimated resident population at 31 December 2010 and assumes growth since then of:

* one births every 1 minute and 46 seconds,
* one death every 3 minutes and 40 seconds ,
* a net gain of one international migration every 3 minute and 05 seconds , leading to
* an overall total population increase of one person every 1 minute and 37 seconds .

These assumptions are consistent with figures released in Australian Demographic Statistics, December Quarter 2010 (cat. no. 3101.0).

One hour later...

22,718,989

... this clock doesn't count the number of refugees let out into the community.

Anyone know if our last census figures have been released yet?

Same story, different chapter. We no longer have to breed uncontrollably to ensure some offspring survive the horrendous infant mortality rates of the 3rd world. The high standard of living, including advanced health care stabilises our population. You guys should try it sometime, before the inevitable meltdown stikes.

I wasn't comparing the infant mortality rates between western and third world countries. I was talking about low fertility rates of women in advanced countries, which has resulted in an ageing population, which in turn has resulted in opening your doors for immigration. Here, I am not condoning the despicable demographic policies of South Asia or other third world countries.

The so called low fertility rates are a choice, as I said. This is shown by 2nd or 3rd Generation immigrants aligning with the national average

What is your definition of a real country? Over run by indians? You are posting from Timmins, it's practically a suburb of Dehli.

@Another Dave's post#8.
Of course it's a choice. With the rationale that 2nd and 3rd gen immigrants aligning with the national average, the problem of ageing population (if you see it as one) will persist for decades to come.

It's a furfy that Westerners are overpopulating the planet though. We don't have a say in the future as Whites will an endangered subspecies. We don't birth enough, the white race is aborting itself out of existence. End of 21st century, whites are doomed.

Thank you, all the Non-conservative idiots, in Western power, whose policies that have decimated the culture, values, family integrity and the very fabric of western society since the 1950s.

On 9 November 2011 at 21:25:24 (Canberra time), the resident population of Australia is projected to be: 22,757,566

In less than 2 months we've increased by 38,617 people. Will be 23 million early next year.

In the last 4 years my town has gone from 90,000 to 123,000 - something's not adding up here.

Massive housing crisis, homeless multiplied by 5, crime rate's through the roof, waiting list for treatment at hospital blown out to years now instead of months, infrastructure's not coping at all, huge increases in rates etc, on water restrictions even though dams are full...

The bigger we get, the more third world and inefficient and unsustainable we become!
