No I say, stay out of it, this is not our fight and he shouldn't be calling for any other country to interfere in this either...
This is a civil war where a people are fighting for THEIR rights...it is up to them to deal with the consequences and fallout of their actions..... America have already supplied the Syrian Rebels, some of whom belong to Al Queda and other fanatical groups, so to aid them would mean the government they want to implement could be worse than the one that exists now.....It is about time we learnt to physically and militarily stay out of these incidents....The western world want to give arms to the rebels will encourage ongoing waring, where if we stay out it will end when the strongest wins...then it will settle down sooner rather than later and everyone can get back to their lives........The western world needs to allow these countries their own conflicts without outside aid and not use their agenda to effect their ideals on another country at war....Shut it Rudd and tell the yanks to do their own dirty work..

Aussies seem to have an historical compulsion to side with the underdog, whomever that appears to be at a given time. It's often justified ... but not always.

I suspect KRudd is getting reeled in by that same instinctive compulsion. Looked at objectively each of the opposing sides in Syria seems worse than the other. There seems a valid case for letting them slug it out to end up stewing in their own juice.

Australia might end up having its own internal strife in the foreseeable future if its growing Islamic community get too assertive (which they have done everywhere else). If that day comes we can be certain that their 'brothers' from the Middle East, including Syria, will swarm here to their aid ... including Syrian Rebels whom earlier we had helped.

There are short memories and no medals for humanitarian interventions that aid a morally volatile culture.

Therefore, why invest a la KRudd?

I agree. It's a stupid religious war and we should stay out of it. Glad he's not foreign relations minister any more.

I can just see us getting more involved over there and the next step is an influx of refugees from Syria, because we are part of the problem...I am sick of the lot of them...they should all just get out of the middle east and leave them to sort out there own shit....I would regard it as a treasonist act to have another country arm it's citizens in a civil war..and yet we don't see it like that when it a middle eastern country.....The world is itching to get in on this one with Syria... France is attacking one of its ex colonies because of a civil war going on there, I wouldn't be a all surprised if the western world wasn't stiring the pot in more than arms for their benefit.....let them sort it....and we will deal with the fall out after it's all over....what do you think!

Bob Carr says he is not entirely clear whether arming the rebels would worsen or assist conflict in Syria.....Oh Der, where do these pollies get educated....how about if you give them more weapons the situation will escalate and more people will die, because they still won't have the firepower of the Syrian government we will just be assisting the bloodshed...I SAY err on the side of caution and butt the fuck out.

Arm both sides, make a few bucks out of it and hopefully there are none left standing in the end.
