Well - yeah, they didn't have the best of relationships, right?

But distancing themselves on this topic is interesting because it says (among other things) that they're really making a run for it. I doubt it will go anywhere, but at least the mining tax is getting highlighted for the travesty that it is.

Sadly I think the mining tax might be here to stay like the gst.

Unless, labour has Kevin Rudd run. Then people will vote him in because of what Gillard did to him. They could also drop the tax last minute to gain more votes?

Either way this is going to be a long drawn out campaign.

Mussolini failed as a government but what do you expect when someone takes control by force. He then takes it on himself to edit all the news to the people.

Sadly? Mining ought to have the crap taxed out of it. It belongs to Australia, not to a few rich buggers like Gina "pay them 2 dollars a day" Rinehart.

Well they won't be any loss, their whacko policies and the whacko women are traitors to this country... you know it's an election year when politicians want to do what's right for their country and it's citizens, they have had 3 years to do that... I would say it's a big sham, as labor realises how unpopular their relatioship with the greens have made them, along with border protection, etc etc.... when the polls improve, they will once again be snuggling down together under the doona...

The Greens' under Bob Brown made a complete mess of things by torpedoing the Rudd Govt's carbon reduction scheme in 2009, which had a good chance of acceptance by all stakeholders. They found fault with the part that gave assistance to big polluters, just like they objected to a cut in company tax as part of the mining tax package, which would have been good for the economy and got business on side. Labor's problems can be laid squarely at the door of the Greens and their irrational hatred of business.
Those people crying out for more smaller parties should be very wary. When a minor party gets into a position of power, all its wacky ideas come tumbling out. Look at the fiasco in NSW with the miniscule Shooters Party shoehorning in a plan to let children run around with bows and arrows in National Parks.

Bit of an exaggeration dont you think ?
There has been hunting in Victorias national parks and no problems.
This is just the anti gun greens trying to start problems before anything has even happened.

The liberal and Labor governments are far more dangerous with their unprecidented numbers of immigrants that include all kids of muslim terrorists and extremists than anyone hunting in a park.

Crappy little one issue parties usually end up selling their arse [preferences]to one of the major parties or possibly end up having the balance of power which can be totally counter-productive.

Just a fair tax would be acceptable. Rudds first proposal for the MRRT should have had bi-partisan support from all of the government. This stupidity of using " bargaining chips" , by minority parties like the Greens and independants to block such important legislation through the house is bad news.....

The States like WA and Q'ld are getting Royalties and under the constitution are entitled to Royalties. The Labor Rag Arses are just trying to extract more money to cover there waste. The miners like BHP Rio and Xtrata just go off shore and thousands of Aussies lose there jobs. Every time the Labor ass holes talk mining tax WA and Q'd the major mining states up the Royalties thus reducing the Labor Ass holes take on the Mining tax. The mines like BHP Rio and xtrata pour millions into these mining towns. The Labor shit would not spend a red cent on these towns they would use the money to give these illegals free housing, food, taxi's, Med care and handouts.

Theres no logic in blaming smaller parties for the short comings of liberal and labor.
The major parties have been screwing Australia for over 100 years. Blame the stupid morons that keep electing them and stopping any new parties from getting a fair start.
