And most aussies are stuck in a time warp and couldn't give a rats. Their understanding of asia is like everything else extremely limited. To them asia is bali, or cheap sex holiday in thailand or cheap goods from china. None realise how far behind we are getting. Compare us to likes of japan and we are almost 3rd world.

This global financial crisis is getting worse while countries like Germany, Japan and Korea have several high developed industries to fall back on we only have the 4 banks and the already over inflated housing bubble. We have no large companies, too much foreign ownership, we don't specialise in anything, we are lazy, we are just like Greece except with mining.

1. Australia is not in Asia. Australia is a continent to the south east of Asia so far away that it is in another hemisphere.
2. Asia is a craphole populated by uninventive, slavish monkeys.
3. You wogs and slopes are so jealous it has driven you mad.

i dont think australia would be able to catch up with the rest of the world.

it has wayyyyy too many trade laws that forbids national advancement and productive work ehics.

i would not bet my money on australia to progress and it is visibly lacking behind most of asia with exception of cambodia, laos and those really shitty 3rd world countries where potable water is hard to get.

Comparing east asian countries like japan/korea el al to south east asia is like comparing western europe to the middle east.

In terms of quality of education, telecommunications, transport, and general infrastructure, east asia is comparable and ahead of western europe in dome respects. Australia is becoming more comparable to eastern europe. At this rate of advancement, in 20 years it will be more comparable to the middle east.

Australian manufacturing is superior to most Asian countries in the region , but not as technically advanced as Japan . Aus manufacturing in most areas has a similar level to Taiwan and Sth Korea. Indian manufacturing is worlds worst , and China is slightly better than india. For many years now some Asian economies have grown because of cheap, abundant labour , but as technology advances , cheap abundant labour will become more of a burden than an advantage. European and US manufacturing is superior as well , and the only way China or india can compete , is by selling poor quality at dirt cheap prices. The current resurgence in US manufacturing is the start of the pendulum swinging back , and will have a "balancing" effect on most of world trade , which is what we all need......Australia will survive quite well , considering our strong trade relationship in the region......

In 1998 Asia (including South Asia, East Asia, and the Pacific region) accounted for about two-thirds of the world’s 1.2 billion poorest people. These people all lived on less than $1 per day. South Asia—that is, the Indian subcontinent, which includes India, Nepal, and Bangladesh—had about 522 million people living in extreme poverty.

Yes, Asian countries are WAY AHEAD.....bw ha ha ha...

East asians such as Japanese, South Koreans and some Taiwanese are okay. Some chinese are okay also.

According to G20 reports Korea and Japan are ahead of most european countries, USA and australia, in terms of quality of education, literacy, infrastructure, productivity and technology. And it shows because they specialise in more high tech industry like machinery equipment, car manufacture, and high end electronics. These require high levels of skill and not cheap labour. Where is Australia's sony, samsung, or toyota?

Cheap asian labour.

Where is Australia's asian poverty and corruption levels?
One dollar a day. The averaged out Asian wage.

Take your bastardised breeding and screwed asian ideologies for a revamp.
You seem VERY insecure about your asian heritage, you are constantly trying to convince others (vicariously for yourself) of all asian superiority. Sad, dude, just sad. You need learn to be comfortable in your own skin.

There are many lists to compare
in asia oceania. but other areas are more developed than these areas in drug law rationality and human rights.

Technology-japan ,korea ,singapore ,taiwan no 1s on that list
Freedom of speech- australia, new zealand, japan, south korea no1 on that list
Drug offence punishment reduction rationality.--australia and new zealand are no 1 on this list, though australia is way behind europe and has been more influenced by usa and asian countries, which is why there are very long jail sentences in aus now for drug traffickers
Manufacturing sophistication- japan no 1
Income equalities - vietnam no 1 china no 2 north korea no 3-- everywhere else wide income disparity
highest incomes- singapore,taiwan,australia,jap an
high level healthcare- australia, new zealand, japan, south korea, singapore

Outsourced my arse, we don't have any industry to outsource. Korea and Japan outsource to china, our main export is stuff out of the ground, if it weren't for that we would be worse off than greece.

Oh my goodness.
You will notice how the USA improved their HDI for inequality with Healthcare.

These idiots in Canberra have the right idea.
Improve Education. There is no point in having a quality university system without a quality primary and secondary system
By the time the lower system is improved the NBN with fast 2 way communication will revolutionise not only University education but employer training for workers.

There is a plan. Stick to it.
