Jet contract may be torn up
December 31, 2007
THE $6.6 billion purchase of 24 Super Hornets as a stop-gap fighter jet could be jettisoned by the Rudd Government as it reviews all aspects of the program to give Australia an edge in air-combat capability in the region.
Defence Department planners are believed to have been asked to present a detailed analysis on all the fighter jet options to the new Federal Government and how they stack up against likely adversaries — the first time such a study has been done for at least five years.
All projects in the $30 billion program will be carefully examined. That includes what aircraft are to be bought, in what numbers, when and at what price.
A senior Government source said: "Absolutely everything is on the table."
Even if contracts have been signed, as is the case with the Super Hornets, the Government is prepared to break them if the case is compelling. This marks a shift from previous Labor thinking.
As devised by the previous government, it came under sustained criticism from military aviation experts. Australia with a tiny population of 20 million does not have the manpower or strategic mass to challenge any of its huge neighbors like Indonesia, India or China.
You are right, that’s why we need nukes, lot’s of nukes.

Seeing that Australia's biggest trading partner is China and that Indonesia's military is basically third world mujahadeen, what scenario can we see that Australia would be challenging either on it's own? Seriously..what a load of crock!

Correction...we are already taking on Indonesia in East Timor and well, lets face it, it's not exactly heating up to boiling point. They basically have nothing.

IMO Australia can crush every miltary in that region barring India & China.

Luckily neither Inia nor China have any interest in beating upon Australia.

Quit snorting bulldust from the outback matey! OZ only went into East Timor because Indonesia was in a mess after Suharto's fall and the military just wanted out and the US and its opportunist puppets saw it as a good time to go after Esat Timor sea OIL basin. In 1975 it was the same Indonesian military that took over East Timor in less than 5 hours and they can do it again if they choose too. It is all about demographics as Iraq and Afghanistan have clearly shown. Endless manpower will always win, this is the simple message of asymetrical warfare, bleed you enemy and bog them down, it has proved successful from Vietnam to Iraq. One Aussie idiot in US puppet service dies and the whole place moans for weeks.LOL. Imagine if the Aussie trash had to fight a real war.LOL.
Stay tuned and stay away from drugs.
That’s why we need nukes, manpower doesn’t matter much when it can be vaporized.

There is also the small factor that no Asian country presently has sufficient Naval resources to threaten Australia, China for instance doesn’t even have enough Navy to seriously threaten Taiwan, the only country that currently has the Naval resources to pose a serious threat of invasion is the USA.

And no I’m not suggesting that the US will invade OZ.

Actually Australia is not in anyones sights despite aligning itself with suicidal US policies. OZ is being slowly being integrated into Asian economic and geo-political power structure anyway. The simple fact is that a small multicultural nation of 20 million without any major defence capability can only survive it it retains independence and nuetrality. Look at New Zealand, they have even scrapped their puny "airforce" mostly ageing A-4 Skyhawks and still remian peacful and secure due to good balanced foreign policy and neutrality.
Australia has this bizarre inferiority complex of playing a dumbass "deputy Sheriff" to an idiotic and deluional US which is on irreversible decline anyway. Indonesia has no will, capability or intention of "attacking" or "invading" OZ. If Aussie politicans can chart and indepenedent and respectful course with their giant neighbors, Australia will remain at peace and will prosper in the new Asian centric economic and strategic power block.
Kow-towing to insane US warmongering policies is a sure fire way of commiting hara-kiri globally. Just look at current plight of Pakistan and what its idiotic "alignment" with US and delusional "war on terror" farce has wrought havoc and turned it into a totally failed state.
The US has the IQ, EQ and maturity of a ten year old spoilt kid armed with a shotgun. Unstable and very dangerous, mostly to itself, and any nation that aligns itself with such a retard is bound to seal a fatal kiss of death.
OZ needs to mind its own business and get along with its neighbors without getting sucked into the endless American quagmire and failures. This century and beyond is the PACIFIC CENTURY and Australia, under hopefully sane, and sophiticated leadership is well poised to take advantage of it. Only peaceful coexistence will work for OZ.
A bit dramatic and drawn out, but I agree with your conclusion, I do believe however that it is all well and good to be friendly and mind our own business, get rid of ANZUS etc, but we still need to be able to defend ourselves, the only practical way to do that is a strong navy/air force combined with a nuclear deterrent.

Gotta stay close to the US to avoid getting hit by the Jihadists - or better still to CRUSH the Jihadists.
Notice Al Qeda already getting crushed in Iraq cuz the US has effectively got the Sunni tribesmen doing the right thing and fcuking their case.

Stay close to us & Oz'll be safe. US had the right idea - lets get together & get that E Timor Oil secured.

The only reason anyone wants to attack Australia is due to our arse kissing the US government, Australia should work towards our own defence and nullification of the ANZUS treaty which is not worth the paper it is written on, while remaining friendly towards the US.

It is time for the Australian people to grow up and become truly independent.

Lets see, Canada was on the winning side in the Bour War, WW1 and WW2. Fought in the Korean war and in UN dirty little wars too many to mention. We have 3500 troops in the field in Afgahistan who actually fight and die as apposed to other countries who supply a small amount of special forces and their main contingents are tourists.
That dosen't sound like France to me asshat.

Nukes???

As long as we are strong allies with the US, we can requisition one quite quickly, not so cheaply though. Hell, they could deliver it on our behalf.
