I can only assume that you Argie-bashers have had the misfortune to meet a tiny minority of Argentines who have obviously clouded your judgement and given you an overall bad opinion. I have spent the majority of the last 18 months working in Argentina and I rank them as some of the friendliest, honest and hard-working people I have some across. The Argie women are some of the most beautiful in the world withoput a doubt! Is there a sense of arrogance or superiority in some of their attitude?? Sure there is!! But no more than from a typical American, a typical Aussie or a typical Brit?? No race of people are without fault but I certainly think the Argentines are better than most!! Ciao Amigos!

I have lived in Argentina. Have Argentinian relatives and am married to a drop dead gorgeous Argentinian woman. That being said, YES many of them come across as ASSES or better put pompous asses. However, you need to understand the root of that. About 300 years ago the indians in Argentina became a major nusiance (attacking and killing etc) so the Argentine government sent out the military to kill them. They succeeded in genociding almost all of the indiginous people. They now only reside in remote far flung provinces in the west and north west near Bolivia. As a result of agressive immigration from Europe in the late 1800's and early 1900's almost all of Argentines are of European decent. This in turn has given them an sense of "european -white" superiority over their "ethically" mixed neighbors. I am not saying that that is the only reason they have a tendency to be preceived as asses but it certainly contributes. There are a number more but this is a Strong one.

Everybody is right. The truth is that Argentinian are a very proud people. But, lets also be honest to ourselves: the whole World is basically racist and in spite of the gains in this regard during the last years, racism still exists!! The Argentines are proud of the following facts: Argentina and Canada are (or were) the only two pure white populations in the Americas, the argentines are direct descendans from two leading nationalities,the Spaniards and the Italians, Argentina's rate of education is the highest in the Americas, take a look at Buenos Aires, the Paris of South America, take a look at its people and the way the dress and their manners, and of course, their nation and their dimensions, richness and past world consideration. In the 30' the country was among the richest in the world! and so on and on. The other side of the coin ?? the individual is not good to work as a group and as a result, is being at a disvantage working as an individual. For this,Argentina is now paying for all of the "broken dishes" that take place on a daily basis, their world debt, their poor leaders and their bad citizens and their corruption from the people in power. Nowadays, they are making headlines with their triumphal athletes in soccer, tennis, polo,etc and their music is enjoyed by the World. Let;s face it, you're right but....don't they are right too??
After all, what they are saying is: Among our neighbors, were are the best!!
InUSA we feel and we say that we are the best in the World and we show our big cities and our industries, our financial power and our tentative control of everybody else around us, so we act and we say just about the same thing!!
do we have a right to be so proud ? After all, Argentina is on its knees now..let them live in the past for now, they earned it!!

thank you god no ,more argentinians Hi Mariana, First, left me start by saying that you need to learn to spell in English; then I need to tell you that one "argentinian" person does not represent the whole country....You need to meet more people from Argentina to be able to have an "Intelligent" opinion; I think it would be very unfair as well to have the same opnion of all US born citizens, if we had just met one of them!!! I agree that certain people from Argentina "MAY" think they are better than others...however you and I, very intelligent,strong, modern women know better I am from Argentina and have been in the US for the last 24 years and I feel that anyone (Argentinian or from another country) who complaints about the US should and can go back to their country; no one invited them here; they came because they wanted or needed to!! Having said that, not all 'men' individuals,etc, are the SAME

I hear a lot of ENVY from central Americans..... Italians, Spaniards, Germans,English and many other nations are Proud People.... They are proud of their mark in this world and their history on a global scale.... And because the world knows this,,,, its almost Human nature to HATE them or envy them...Argentina is basically a European nation in South America! The culture is extremely unique and the people are extremely outgoing and opinionated! Life in Argentina is different and they are PROUD to be different,,, and the more hated we are by people like you,,,, the more you seem inferior! If you start to accept every culture for what they'r worth,,, you wouldnt be so jelous.... I bet you've never been there..... They are more hospitable than you would ever imagine..... I have the misfortune to know (work with) a woman from Latin America whom I just cannot get along with. I tolerate her because I have to work with her. I sense this woman's subtle inexplicable hatred toward me. She always tries to belittle me or tries to find some kind of fault in me just to correct me and laugh at me in front of others. I will not say which country in Latin America she comes from. Why? simply because it does no matter. What matter's that she is very hard to get along with (not just with me, but with all our co-workers). Now, it will be naive from me to say that all persons coming from the same country as hers are mean, because I know lots of other from the same country and they are simply sweethearts.
On the other hand, I also work with one of the nicest woman on earth. She is from Puerto Rico. But it will also be naive to say that all Puerto Ricans are the nicest people on earth. Do you see my point. What you have is only the same misfortune that I have; to know someone you have to deal with whom you just cannot get along with. People will be human wherever they are from.
Having said that, let me point out that I have been married to a wonderful Colombian man for 20 years. I must confess that on many occasions throughout the years, I have heard my husband and his family say to other Hispanics, with certain proud tone, that I am Argentinean born. I feel very embarrassed when they do this; so I play dumb and make believe I'm busy with something else and I'm not listening to what they're saying. Maybe other Argentineans hear similar comments. This type of comments will fuel the tiniest speck of superiority (on anyone). Then, are Argentineans the ones to blame?
I also heard comments from other Hispanics saying that Argentineans think they're better and stuff; yet, when the opportunity presents itself to form an alliance with an Argentinean, then, they show us off like a prize or the likes. That's messed up! We are humans, no better, no worse. We are sinners just the same as the next person. But, one thing is for sure, we will not apologize for being Argentineans.
I'm sure all other nationalities feel the same about their roots. And no one can touch this.
Before I go, I like to mention that I found a special place in my heart for people from Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala and Uruguay, to name a few. And the woman I cannot find to stomach at work, is from one of the mentioned countries, but I will never say which.
