An ailing newborn from American Samoa would still be alive had he not been detained inappropriately at an airport checkpoint, the family's lawyer charged yesterday.

It has been over one year after this tragic incident. The public does not know what happened after the loss of this innocent baby's life all in the name of national security. President Bush established Homeland Security and the Patriot Act in good faith to protect the security of our country. However, TSA and Immigrations & Customs are only looking for enemies within its citizens--finding fault in every war-weary Americans. Is this Nazi Germany? Homeland Security uses the media to sing their empty victories just to justify their existence, but how much did they do for our country besides creating a conjestion in airports and seaports and arousing unnecessary distrusts in Americans? How about the helpless lady spilling water on the floor and the TSA agent making her wipe it up? Homeland Security, the Patriot Act, and TSA all should be disbanded. They are painting a very dirty picture of America! The paranoia starts when we start pointing fingers at our own citizens. Mr. Obama please end this madness now because the Patriot Act is like a 2nd rate henchmen wearing a swatiska on its inflated chest.

We have to fix something that's broken here. Airport security is fixed to a point where an old horse have blinders and don't get off course. Same thing here. All possible scenario's is like Murphy's law. What can go wrong will but how do you remedy that problem? Next time this same scenario happens what then? Will the State or the City foot the blame and cover any law suits. Life cannot be infringed. Money can't buy a new life or save one that's from the cause of inhumanity. They didn't have an interpreter and surely the man in charge didn't have a clue. So bottom line...will this problem be resolved. A state of the U.S. shouldn't have to be deficient in this.

The mother(foreigner) and her baby were accompanied by a Registered Nurse. The question people here wanted to know is why the HLS couldnt release the baby and the Nurse and hold the mother if her documents were the reasons for the hold up.

This is utterly ridiculous.

Don't these people have any common sense? Might as well just use robots to serve their same duties, at least with a robot, we could program a sympathy response in situations like this.

Were these airport security drones just "following orders"?

There needs to be some punishment and perhaps even some firings. They are responsible for that baby's death and need to be treated as such.

I hate these hoighty toighty custom/immigration officials who feel like they rule the world of the airports and any external input is interference. Many look like they just graduated from university and are being pressured by the older dudes to conform to this authoritarian culture. Bunch of idiots they are. Go live a real life and bring what you learn about your humanity to the job instead of leaving it at home you inchworms.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Sagittarius

Moodiness is never far away today, making you over-react to problems and giving you a tendency to take out your feelings on your nearest and dearest. If someone asks you what's really wrong, you'll struggle to explain and may even have to give up because you can't put it into words. It's like an itch that you can't scratch, and you don't know where it stems from or what it means.
