Yeh, what's the problem, just throw more troops in there. Does the trick every time. So what if they're already on their 4th tour; they can handle a few more, except for the sissies with "mental health issues." Why are the Demosocialists worrying about stuff like the Karzai government being corrupt and stealing the election? That's minor compared to the threat we face from the Taliban & Al Qaeda. Send more troops now, stop shilly-shallying. If it worked for the Brits and the Russians it"ll work for us

OK - Obama promised to bring the troops home from Iraq, and concentrate on the real threat in Afghanistan, as Bush should have done. After the rigged election it looks like backing the Karzai government might not be such a good idea.

If President Obama ever starts a needless war for oil, giving trumped-up excuses, I hope the protesters will be back in front of the post office.

And yet you, who are against Vermont Yankee continue to consume oil as if our interests in OPEC countries does not exist. Here is an idea, support alternatives and Vermont Yankee. Convert to electric heat and an electric car. Once transitioned, I look forward to a get together to talk about a way to end these wars once and for all!

You always insist on diverting every discussion back to VY. Unfortunately Welch, the article, and I were taking about Afghanistan. The war in Afghanistan is not about oil; Afghanistan does not have oil. I'm sorry, there just aren't any arguments here that you can hijack to support your radioactive jalopy. Maybe tomorrow.

Can one really be so blind as you? America has an interest in Afghanistan, and that interest (like it is with Israel) is to create stability by building democratic nations in the richest oil regions of the world. No oil = no interest. Israel and Afghanistan need not have oil, they just need location location location. Do you understand now? You just promote Afghanistan as being a more noble war because it is Bill Clintons & now Barak Obama's war.

You're swerving dangerously...the Entergy guy was claiming that these wars for oil are just more proof that we need VY. I was merely pointing out that Afghanistan is not about oil, which it isn't. It's not about location either. It's about geopolitics, i.e. preventing the Taliban/Al Qaeda from setting up their base from which to attack us again, and hopefully bring some freedom and prosperity to the long-suffering Afghans and stem the supply of opium. Bill Clinton had nothing to do with the Afghanistan war, which we entered after he left office. Even Barak Obama has not had an impact on it yet, so I don't know where that comment came from.
