PHOENIX (AP)-- Two Marines assigned to the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Ariz., were killed during an insurgent attack on an air base in Afghanistan, the Defense Department announced.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the strike, saying it was staged to avenge an anti-Islamic film that insulted the Prophet Muhammad and also because Britain's Prince Harry is serving at the base, the military disclosed Sunday.

The attackers destroyed six Harrier jump jets assigned to Yuma's Marine Attack Squadron 211 and heavily damaged two others. The British air base is next to the Marines' Camp Leatherneck in southern Afghanistan's Helmand province.

A promise? A bargain? By the United States? I think whomever wrote this is a wee bit confused. It is the recruit that vows the following:

"I,(NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So you don't think Israel should be punished for their deliberate attack on a US ship? If anyone else had done it, you Israeli apoligists would be all over them.

The USS Liberty was on it's way back to the US when it was diverted to an area near what was going on with Israel. It entered a war zone on orders directly from the highest of US military and civilian government authority. The ship and it's crew were obeying orders. What responsibility for the events that happened later do these high level US government/military authorities share with Israel?

Just courious, what religion was Pilate?? I think we should stop all aid to a country that kills our miliary with impunity. If any other country had done that, they would be paid back. Why not Israel?

When the Marine barracks was hit there was a naval bombardment of the Golan Hts. Khadafi's compound was hit and a good number of his family was killed. Later ,we assisted the rebels in his overthrow and execution.

As far as the other two incidents , there was no clear evidence of what country sponsored the attack. Israel did attack the Liberty and there is no denying it. To support them in anyway after that is tratorous.
