Sydney - Thousands of people on Australia's east coast were cut off by floodwaters on Sunday, with the heavy rain claiming two lives as extreme thunderstorms damaged homes and brought down trees in Sydney.

Well we can't have floods terrorising Australians now can we.
Deport them & ban any more from entering the country.

The analogy is: These northern towns were built right on rivers, so when the rivers burst from the rain the towns flood. Basically a lack of foresight, just like the lack of foresight & future disaster of multiculturalism.

Back in those days water would have been probably the most important thing in deciding where people would settle.
No dams or infrastructure etc. back then & people had to live near fresh water.
In hindsight it probably wasn't very bright to build on river banks & flood plains.
But I guess the knowledge of these things probably wouldn't have been anything like it is today.
