UPDATE 1-Russian $7 bln bill dampens Ukraine mood after gas deal

Full story: Reuters

Russia has slapped a $7 billion bill on Ukraine for imports of gas it says Kiev was committed to buy last year but never took, Ukrainian energy industry sources and state company Naftogaz said on Saturday.

Ukaine needs to give Russia, the heir apparent to the USSR, a bill for $100B for expropriating grain in 1933 and starving to death 10,000,000 Ukrainians. That's $10,000 per person. Proceeds to go to the national debt and surviving families.

How the hell could anyone deal with Putins government in good faith. You honor a deal for gas and get hit with a bill for 7 billion dollars on a product you have not received! The true colors of Putins regime show again. Ukraine needs to do gas business with the western nations who honor agreements and will help set up the latest technology in fuel extraction from their own country thus ending the bully system Moscow has enjoyed for years.( pay me 7 billion because you didn't use enough gas WTF ? Because we estimated you should need it. Criminal, FSB run gas giant is on crack ) cash for product period. Ukraine honoured its deal but Russia does not.

I think Putin is pissed that even Yanko is fed up with being bullied by Russia over gas. This predicament puts Yanko in a situation similar to Yulias and why she is imprisoned. If he gives Russia 7 billion dollars of state borrowed money he will commit a crime that will see him eventually jailed.

Shell stands to partake in a potential $50 billion dollar deal. Chevron also in the east, Exxon in the Black Sea, all western oil giants. Thus no more Russian fuel and suddenly Ukraine can say screw your pipelines Moscow we are demanding a tax on them per volume or just deny the flow , better yet screw Moscow over and tell them Ukraine wants 7 billion to turn the taps on! What Putin is doing is outrageous is this a play to swindle Black Sea fleet assets or what? Can't pay our ransom then uh we will take a couple of ships.... Bull crap, Russian style.

I don`t think that western companies would like to deal with a partner which doesn`t comply the conditions of the contract which he has signed.

Putin was not holding a gun at temple of Yanukovich when he was signing was he had signed.
Now Ukraine must comply the contract or Ukraine will be sued.
This is civilized business.

The fact that you call black is white and blame Russia for nothing proves that you`re just another filthy idiotic rusophobe.

You'll have to explain how the deal was breached, my Russia defender.
Ukraine in fact imported 33 bcm last year, the minimum allowed under the contract.
No violation but less than what the Oil giant had calculated for their earnings, does that mean you honestly believe Ukraine should fork over $7 Billion dollars for no, no, no, no, no product?
This is pure Russian arrogance period, not as you call filthy idiotic rusophobia. Wrap your head around it as a neutral 3rd party and reverse roles, would Russia give away $7 Billion for a product they have not received nor required when no contract violation happened? I think not. Ukraine needs to wash there hands of Russia, there is a constant intimidation tactic mixed with changing the Fuel contracts at will, generally coinciding with some other political agenda. Could it be Putin is getting impatient that the customs pack has not been signed and the EU is reaching out with western oil giants , 3 of them offering to provide developement and job creation weening Ukraine off of Russias control. There is a major shift going on and Europe doen't want to bend over to Moscow because they supply fuel. Look around, Europe wants a different supplier thus Russias economy will take an enormous hit. As the rich FSB brass enjoy more wealth and the new militarization is happening, the average Russian outside of Moscow does not see his standard of living rise. Perhaps you should rethink your value system if your in agreement with the direction Putin is undertaking.

This is business and nothing more.
Gazprom has it`s share holders and must think about hem not about Ukraine.
I really don`t ubderstand what does this have to do with Russian arrogance when the general director of Gasprom is a person with a German like last name Miller.

Putin is doing the right thing when is arming the army with modern and brand new weapons. Russia shouldn`t be helpless before agressive and greedy western countries such as yours.

What kind of a dive is this country Ukrainka when you have ministers like Yulka, Lazarenko, Yuriy Lutsenko and Valeriy Ivashchenko all doing time at the slammer. Some say dioxin head will be jailed in the near future for embezzlement. Not even Armenia or Moldova have this many crooks.

Oh yeah. I forgot. Than there is National Bank leaders like Vadym Hetman being bumped off or journalists being brutally pitchforked peasant style as happened to the unfortunate Georgiy Gongadze. Some say Ukrainka reminds more of a mixture of Zambia and Congo stray dog fleas rather than a European country.

I'm glad the mighty Canadian beaver shakes fear into the Russian bear, lol. We have a military smaller than the New York City Police. Beware in the Artic we have Inuit patroling with armoured canoes and spears! We do fare straight up business. We even donate tons of wheat to Russia where areas are neglected by Moscow, why because some bleeding heart in my government believes the Putin regime doesn't truly represent the best interest of all the Russian people. Look at the deal I still don't get why it's being called into question, they received and paid for the bare minimal, as it is written and signed. My thoughts stick to Putin being pissed off that western companies are offering fare, job creating, profitable developement thus causing him heartburn. All timing. GASPROM has a board of directors that is compiled with 100% ex-KGB and FSB members, lets not pretend there common folk that pushed a broom and suddenly rose up...
