Hey, I just found this blog site. I'm an OSR for SBS in the ATL metro market. What's all this talk about BFS and MIT's??? I for one, am thankful for SBS taking me and my customers in after my former company went out of biz. Is there any real news out there, or just hearsay and rumors? Gotta Know.

Jim,
Sounds like you may be in the know around Arco Rd.
With all of the rumors swirling, when do you think someone like Joe Appleman might reassure the troops? There are alot of good Stock associates wondering about the future. YES training was great for us but with all of this going on doesnt help reinforce that program.
What do you think?

I don't know any more that anyone else. But I really don't feel right biting the hand that feeds me. There have been increasingly vociferous rumors swirling today. I am busy selling product to our customers. No point in worrying about that which I cannot control. Before we were Stock we did our best, and if someday we are no longer Stock, we shall continue to do our best.

Look up wos. Watch their stock.

This is the truth. SBS MIGHT be up for sale. Don't know when or if it will happen.

Jim, I appreciate your loyalty and drive and all that, but you and I work for two MEGA huge companies that have to make MEGA financial interests happy. This time next week, or sooner, you may have to hope you can change shirts. I've done it before. It's just part of the deal. We adapt and move forward, but if you haven't read Who Moved My Cheese, this might be a good time.

Can anyone point to any solid evidence that it is BFS that will purchase Stock? I left BFS 2 years ago after being there 13 years. I went to a startup a little more that 15 minutes down the road from that location. We have been doing quite well in our market against BFS, and reading all this talk has gotten me a little concerned about my position with Stock.

It's purely a rumor as far as I can tell -

BUT the fact that BFS stock has continued to climb...in THIS market...for the past month is a little 'interesting'

Looks like no sale YET. Just more lay offs coming and store closures. Looks like SBS is getting dressed up to be sold later, when it looks better on the books. Everyone needs to hold on tight cuz it's going to be more of a wild ride the next few weeks. Winter is nipping at our heels. Who knows what November will bring.

No news is good news. Early results state SBS is not sold yet, but being looked at sharply. Just more store closures and lay offs ahead. Big losses from this side of the Atlantic, which we already knew. Maybe WOS is holding tight to see what happens with all the Fed bailouts, see if the economy will start to turn slowly.

I used to work for Stock in Indy. They were on a buying spree a few years back and bought a company that I used to work for. they came with all the promises and made everything look pretty. Six months later they came and shut the doors on the very facility that I was at for 10 years and I saw 49 people let go that I had worked with for 10 years. It was very sad to see that. Then to add insult to injury, they transferred the management to another location (including myself). They told us not to worry we will still be doing the same management level jobs at the other location. No sooner than I walked in the door they said that you will no longer be in the management level position you held and you will be just another laborer. So to be honest I feel that they have done a lot of people wrong just to make a quick buck. i have been in this business for 15 years and know the ups and downs of this business and would hate to see anyone lose their job in this market right now with the economy on it's head. But time will tell. The only thing that they had that was of any greatness was their insurance plans they offered. Other than that they were not very saavy with their money. I have seen their management department have a 1-2 hour meeting to make a 5 minute descision. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they sold out and somebody else bought them. I honestly don't see a need to have over 40 different locations in the Raleigh area. Plum retarded if you ask me!!!
