It was an Indian fishing boat idiot,this didn't take place off the coast of New York,it never does its always in someone elses back yard,remember the Gulf of tonkin incident that never happened?that insanity by the US led to a war where millions died.

That's part of the point being made about being shot at, or shot down. The US Navy has had to do some re-tooling in their efforts to keep their vessels from being attacked in the Middle Eastern waters. The US military has been using an identification Friend or Foe system for decades. It doesn't work if the Rules of Engagement countermand the system.

I would also like to point out that there have been many instances where a potential enemy will knowingly commit suicide to determine how close they can get to a US military vessel or plane. It was, and still is sort of a game, like "chicken" played with two autos rushing straight at each other. Sometimes the 'flinch' never happens-then someone dies.

I did notice an incident with the Somali pirates and the Royal Navy. There is a point where enough is enough. We're at that point.
