I was just there in Manila, and its a crisis there, if your a foreigner walking there, kids like 5 years old are begging u while their parents live on the sidewalk, a tourist can solve their problems but those kids think they can with a few pesos, parents there must know if they cant eat what kind of life will there kids have, theres no work there for these people except selling things and begging, the govt there doesnt care they just keep getting rich, whats sad is that next president wont care either, and this one is a women and she couldnt care about the kids there at all, the church is there only salvation, but they cant feed them either, its really a beautiful place with great people mostly friendly to foreigners, but no one person can fix the mess there!

The Roman Catholic church is such a rich organization but has done little to help the poor. What has this religion been doing for more than a thousand years?

Yea Lyn has told me a lot, This is a very true situation, I can't really hold the catholic church responsible.. Their government is well known as the most corrupt in the world.. I suppose any person that tries to rock the boat would land in a pine box. Whats truly amazing is how wonderful the people are in spite of this.

I don't know what to say about that. I know that most of the women are the bread winners. Many are left by their husbands to start a new life with a new wife and no considerations is given to the there previous wife or kids.

I know that jobs aren't nearly as plentiful as in other countries, I know that often women after a certain age usually (24 or older) have a very hard time getting a job too. And for males it's even harder.

It's a hard life their. And the work is hard. How many women do you know scrub floors with coconut husk ? wash clothes by hand ? It's a very different world than a lot of people realize. And in many ways its very sad..

We are talking about Philippines! I almost forgot, I imagine life is very difficult there. Aussies seem to don't know how lucky they are. I try explaining to others what life is like in those poor countries but they don't care. A lot of people in this country have unlimited opportunities to do anything. We have what I would describe as a generous welfare system. Theres truly no reason for anybody to be homeless in Australia but it still happens.

I would have thought that with our military bases there for so long that their ecomony would have been better but its not. Ive heard the same thing from Hunnygrace, AHC, Space, kickback, and from Lyn as to the conditions there. I have seen some of it even from here. My heart really goes out to the Filipino people they truly have a hard life ronnie, yet there attitude and demeanor is just so wonderful. You would never know on the surface but if you were to go there you will see the hardship first hand. I can't blame the people nor the church, I blame the corrupt government they are the ones charged with making economic prosperity a reality there.

I want go over there because it so close to Australia but I just haven't worked out a good time to go yet. I don't like hearing how poor their people are and how many people there is in a small space. Its about 4.5 times the population of Australia.

Now you know why I wish to get Lyn out of there so badly. If you get a chance I would go. The people are really wonderful people ronnie. The country from what Lyn has shown me is beatutiful, Lyn and I are planning to retire there when the time comes. Ill have a steady pension and my ssi ( if its still there ) and we will have a good life. Just don't hold what you see so much agianst the people. Its really hard there. If one has money its very nice but if you don't its hard. But by all means if you get the chance go ronnie

Lots of Filipino's come and work over here and then go back later because one year wage is like about 10 over there. Then they can retire when they are still young.

Ohhh I can believe that, I work with a lot of Filipinos they are all married but they come here to earn a better living, and to help their family's back in the Philippines. I em friends with many of them you wouldn't want me to tell you some of the things I've been told. Yet believe me they very much love their country just as we do ours.. Lyn was very excited and a got a very huge smile on her face when I asked her if we could retire there.

She loves her country just as all Filipino do, despite the corruption, and Poor conditions. There culture, and beliefs, and just general disposition. Are some of the most beautiful ones I've seen. It worth your time to go ronnie.

Not true the church has done a lot for the poor not just now but across history, check the work that the franciscas have done for example. Also it is not just about religion. Spain and Italy are like 90-95% cathoilic yet they do not have enough kids in general. It is more about bad administration, lack of civic values, lack of enough employment opportunities, inequality, lack of education, corruption among other reasons.
