The mystique surrounding Reagan is always puzzling. In 1980 he gives arms to Iraq to help defeat Iran and five years later he is caught giving arms to Iran in order to funnel money to repressive forces in Nicaragua. And yet his legacy is all about his foreign relations successes, not as a sleazy arms dealer. He happened to be around when the Iron Curtain started crumbling and was quick to take full credit. And a legend was born.

Funny to see how tame Bush Sr. was in a lot of ways, compared to his son...

This summary of recent US Presidents' Iran policies is very sketchy and misleading.

It is quite likely that President Carter's administration secretly gave Saddam Hussein the green light to invade Iran in September 1980, in order to put pressure on the Iranians to release the hostages in time to secure Carter's re-election. But even before that, the Reagan campaign had made contact with Iranian officials through the Israelis, who had already begun selling the Islamic Republic spare parts for its American made military aircraft. The Shah had been the largest purchaser of US military equipment in the world, and the Ayatollah inherited it and used it to fight Iraq for eight years, which required tens of billions of dollars' worth of spare parts, supplied through Israel and other US allies with the blessing of the Reagan administration. Reagan's Iran arms sales did not start in 1985, they started as soon as Reagan became President. Reagan's policy was to keep the Iran-Iraq war going as long as possible through arms sales and supply of strategic intelligence to BOTH SIDES. It was the most disgusting and immoral American foreign policy of the 20th century. Bush Sr's provocation of Iraq which provided the pretext for "Desert Storm" whose purpose was "To whip the Vietnam syndrome once and for all", to quote Bush was another very sorry episode, and Clinton's killing of a million Iraqis with the most aggressive sanctions ever imposed on a country was even worse. And Bush Jr's invasion of Iraq under false pretexts - an invasion and occupation which has killed another million Iraqis and benefitted only the Iran-based Shia theocracy - takes the cake. A lot of the US Iran policy would seem to have been directed to the end of screwing Iraq.

Today's top story by Robert Parry, the reporter who was more responsible than anyone else for exposing the Iran-Contra scandal, is very interesting and revealing regarding the figures behind the so-called democratic reformers in Iran. http://www.consortiumnews.com

Really.

OOH and what did the letter say? I am sure that you, Laughing Liberal have the information in the "letter" in fact I bet Obama had YOU mail it.

Really.

But just keep adding falsehoods to the boards IF it makes you feel better.

By the way, how much was the postage to Iran?

Check your bible.

"For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing" Ecclesiastes 9:5

"His sons come to honor, and he does not know it; They are brought low, and he does not perceive it." Job 14:21

"For in death there is no remembrance of You; In the grave who will give You thanks?" Psalm 6:5

Actually, he has revoked the invitation. Obama always seems to do the right thing after Fox News tells him he is a dick for two weeks straight.

Being China's legitimate Han-Chinese and current succession emperor in exile, a man whose family has not been directly involved in China's political decision making in the last 130 years, all I can say is that I am an American citizen today and that I love freedom and democracy. If I were back in China, I would seek to keep the peace of the world, while putting my best foot forward in being an upright president. I would seek good relations with Iran and I would seek good relations with the US. To initiate nuclear war with North Korea or with Iran is and can be a very dangerous thing.

I believe in God and I am a listening man of peace.

Fox News?

Did you happen to catch their broadcast of Gov Sandford? They put a (D) to identify his party affiliation. I guess they thought that their minions (like you) couldn't handle the fact that he is another fallen sexually repressed (R) man.

The President of Iran is the puppet, it is a Mullah system there.
By comparison, the United States has a President and a tribe of Czars that report to him.
The differences and similarities should send the people into the street.

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Scorpio

This is not the easiest day for concentrating on what needs to be done, whether tackling those Christmas cards and letters, writing out a list of jobs, or getting on with other urgent work. Mental activity seems to be blocked, as Mars is slowing and Mercury is under cosmic pressure. Take some time out for meditation, or reflection, and let your subconscious do the work.
