on the contrary, Sikhism came about (arguably) when Guru Nanak Dev Ji came on earth? Around the 1500s.

By Guru Hargobind Jis time, we had started fighting back. Around the start of the 1600s. Since then, we always fought back.

It resulted in us carving out our own confedreacy, then unifying it to an empire. Around 1716 that started.

So that equates to about 300 years for the Sikhs, much less than 900.

Indians may be scared, but the brave Sikhs and the Khalsa fought back for righteousness. from our beginnings, we have always defended ourselves when needed - the Daram Yudh ("war of righteousness").
