For example, he said the 2013 State Budget provided a big allocation for the Youth & Sports Minisry and Resource Development & IT Ministry as well as the Agriculture & Food Industry Ministry to help produce workers who are skilled, creative and able to compete.

Sabah students intending to pursue studies at institutes of higher learning, whether on their own or through government scholarships, are advised to take up medical, engineering or accounting majors. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said such professions are in demand in the State.

He also said the Government always helps and provides opportunities to students to go for higher studies irrespective of their race and religion.

"But the government strongly encourages students to study medical, engineering or accounting because these are such in demand," he told reporters after officiating at the presentation of the 24th State Scholarships at Menara Tun Mustapha, Thursday.

A total of 25 recipients received the Sabah Excellence Scholarship for their excellent results in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2012.

Education and the development of human capital, he said, are among the main agenda in the effort to spur development of the State.

Under the State 2013 Budget, the State Government has set aside huge allocation for the Youth and Sports Ministry, Resource Development and Information Technology Ministry and Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry.
