What does Australia have to do with this Tamil problem?

Australia is thousands of miles away from Sri Lanka. Tamils claim that they are being persecuted in Sri Lanka because they are Tamils and therefore qualified for asylum. But they never even consider going to Tamil Nadu, where they are originally from.

Why don't you go to Tamil Nadu state, just a few miles off Sri Lanka?

In Tamil Nadu the language, culture, customs and the people are the same and yet you come all the way here?

The Australian govt should make a deal with the Tamil Nadu state and send these asylum seekers and any future Tamil asylum seekers to Tamil Nadu. It is more humane, cheaper and also better for the Tamil children to grow up with the same kind of people sharing a common language and culture. Tamil Nadu is afer all the homeland of Tamils.

As one reads today in Mainstream Media that our major unions will send money to the so called refugees.
As the 78 Sr Lankan asylum seekers move into their 20th day at sea, Australian seafarers, miners and wharfies plan to hand $10,000 to the refugees to help them in their crisis.
It leaves me to think that, Rudd will soon capitulate to ACTU CFMEU,ect. who want bring out red carpet on their arrival.

its obvious that alex guy is a people smuggler with his past history. he is the leader of the boat and his operation is in india. its clear that these ppl cant pay for there boat ticket so they rely on the tamil gang back in canada to fund the operation. once they get to live here they all probley have a debt to pay back of 50 000 each and must work to pay back to the gang or so call pretend asylum alex. he is a criminal and once we let these people the gang will sure be rich. think about it 50000 times 250 thats 12.5 million dollars. it all make sense. he has a business in india why does he want asylum. send him to the desert of africa thats where he deserve

South India is also the homeland of the Sinhalese don't forget (it is all there in the DNA). Both peoples have been in Sri Lanka long enough not to regard India as home anymore.

By that time Kuhendrarajah, one of those identified for forced removal under a special organised crime section of the country's immigration act, had already spent a year in jail on the firearms and death-threat convictions, and was due for release.

The documents show Kuhendrarajah was seized by police with a sawn-off .22 calibre semi-automatic handgun loaded with seven rounds, after having threatened to kill an opponent.

The court documents, however, describe him as living in a basement squat with other friends who were linked to kidnappings and assaults, and contain Kuhendrarajah's own admission that he had been involved in "petty crimes with friends" and fights in bars.

Good god, and ths is the calibre of the leader of the group tryng to blackmail this country? They must refuel and sail to SL with these renegades. Or let them get off in indonesia.

We can understand now why Indonesia dose not want these people to come to their lands.

And his poor me refugee story falls apart here.
In the call centre in Chennai they loved me, and they were willing to pay me a lot of money. So as time went by I became very well off in India and I had a good life there."

Well now that Alex has been outed as a criminal he has a snowflakes chance to get a visa in AUS.
Non-resident crimes are deported as a matter of course.
He can always try Canada again. At least he needs no ID papers there.
Perhaps Space the Canadian poster can go guarantor for him and put him up.
