It's being influenced yes but when is the last time you saw a Roy Hodgson club side play out and out long ball? He's never coached it and the players individually for their clubs all play a fast paced attacking style WITH possession...Maybe the Queen likes the long ball and tells them what to do? I don't know. It's truly baffling.
Sorry you have to work but it's halftime and you're not missing much in the game. No real chances from either side to speak of but Portugal isn't backing down which is nice.
yes....like you i am baffled by their play in the euro.......not much imagination this time out.........i hate to blame the queen since she seems to be more of a rugby/cricket fan than a football fan.

i didn't get to watch the spain portugal match but i heard it wasn't mush to look at....i'm hoping that spain will play that way against italy in the finals.....cough...cough...... ..yes....perhaps i am counting my chickens before they hatch.......not that i am biased or anything ;)

Wow! Italy dismantled the Germans completely. It makes an Englishman actually appreciate the way England blanked the Italians and made it go to pens...

Spain could very well be in a heap of trouble now.

The Germans went into the game thinking they would stroll effortlessly past Italy thinking Italy would be tired from the game vs. England and they got what they deserved! Forget the fact that the Germans have an impossible time historically with Italy anyway, the Germans have been overcoming their poor defense all tournament long. They simply got exposed for what they were all tourny long by Italy. Well deserved win, nothing rigged, nothing gifted, just a plain old fashioned ass whipping.

not just a matter of historical reference but, as you have already said, it was more a brilliant game plan to attack a suspect defense with quick counterattack and winning at midfield that won the game for italy. the score was closer than what was actually happening on the field. germany was lucky the score wasn't 4-1.......with the only german score being a "mercy" penalty on the ref's part.
by the time germany managed any semblance of an offense........they were already harried and worried about being beaten again by a quick counter strike so that took them out of any offensive attack with conviction.
in all a well played game by the italians to exploit and then capitalize on a weak german defense.
onto the finals....viva gli azzuri!!!!

Yea, Germany WAS lucky it wasn't 4-1.

Italy looked the better side earlier vs. Spain and they look the best side in the tourny.

1-0 Italy for the win.

the italian soccer team played like a bunch of eunuchs. the typical italian let down. they play a brilliant game against one team and then the next.....they give us all the middle finger with their "me ne frega" style of play. as if they accomplished everything they needed to by beating the germans..........i have coached little league girls soccer teams that showed more heart and desire than what i saw with the italian professionals.......what an embarrassing display they put on........

that's a tough choice..........do i go with the italians who play very well most of the time but with very little heart and play with a defeatist attitude or do i go with the english who despite their lack of flair play with plenty of heart and desire?????
sheesh.....is that my choice? what a sad state of affairs we have here Jusayin..........

let's see what happens to the run for the world cup......much can change in 2 years.......
