The Italians haven't convinced me. Then again, neither have the English. Although this Italian team is pretty poor in comparison with some of its predacessors, they'll probably muddle their way through to the semis. That'd probably disappoint you. I, however, would love it if England reached the SFs.

Exactly! Didn't quite storm to the World Cup Finals from a group consisting of USA, Honduras, El Salvadore, Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago, did they?

The only thing to come out of England's friendly with Brazil on Saturday is Capello now knows the 2nd string aren't up to much. You'd have thought some of the fringe players might've tried to muscle their way into the 1st XI. Nilmar's goal was down to (a) Elano being allowed too much time to pick out Nilmar and (b) Brown ball watching rather than tracking Nilmar's run. Foster didn't do too badly. The penalty wasn't his fault - again you have to point the finger at Brown.

It's evident that England have a lot of work to do if they are to progress further than the Quarter Finals next year.

Let's hope that the FA's sucking up to the Qataris by organising the game in Doha will secure their vote for England's bid for the 2018 World Cup.

World cup winner
Holland(Great team and pride.most complete in my opinion, with Dirk kuyt, weasley, van persie, robben, they want that star more than anybody. Even Spain doest have the heart against the Dutch.)
Runner up
Brazil(great counter attack with rising pato, Luis fabiano, and the great kaka.but they need defence and the heart of a Dutch.)
Third
Germany(not great tallent but good enough to win it, great striking and defence) scwheinsteiger, podolski, ballak , mertesacker.)
4-spain(great team with Villa,Torres, iniesta, and future great febregas. But they need experience not in puyol but overall.)
5-russia(they could pull an upset like in euro08 against Holland.)
6-mexico(might be the most underrated team, but they have talent, Marquez, dos Santos and rising star Vela.)
7-ivory coast(speed,power and heart)
8-italia(defence and power, and. The defending champs.)
9-england(yet to win another, they have the talent.)
10-france(not a great team.but they have ribery and
the worlds greatest striker)
11-israel(Israel played good at qualifications. Lets see them shine)
12-Argentina(they got no one but aguerro and messi. They suck after loosing to Bolivia, but they are Argentina)
13-honduras(mynor,Wilson,de Leon, pavon, costly, suazo, capable of anything, but the quarterfinals
14-ghana(probably the most talented African selection ever)
15-portugal (they are freaks)good
16-sourh Africa(like Korea in 2002)

Definitely, Argentina will win The World Cup 2010. Argentina haven't win any cups for over 13 years. Although Argentina doesn't have Roman Riquelme, I assume they players would try hard as they could to awarded a stars to Argentina. I hope Argentina gets better before The World Cup. The last time Argentina was bad as they are now was in 1990. Somehow they had eliminated Brazil in pursue The World Cup. Argentina will be a great team, if it has a great manager. José Pekerman has done a great Job as General Manager, they kept him.

Argentina!!!!!!!!!

I think I'm right in saying that a European country has never won the World Cup outside Europe.
You are right and if you belief in statistics, NO Euro team will win it in 2010.
I just want to see great football and may the best team win.
When some people say Eng. or Arg.… bet a mil $$$ on it and you will see how ridicules you sound, to tell everyone who will win next year. Ciao

England didn't even qualify for the European Cup, do you really think they can WIN the World Cup? Anything could happen, I guess. I'm predicting Argentina and Spain will be favourites, with Spain coming off that Euro win. Argentina is always a good team. Like you said the heat will really cause some teams to suffer. I'm rooting for Germany so they'll be facing the same problem as England and most other European teams as far as climate goes.
the world cup is much easier to win than the euro. the only teams that are a threat outside of europe are brasil and argentina ... possibly korea if their on their game
