More East Germans vote left party beacuse are communist nostalgic! all world know this story...
And your left and russians interfered in my nation!! in 70s,80s and nowadays..
With extreme left and pro-islam terrorism .. and collaborated with
BR and more..
We interfered in your nation because you believed in your inferiority and in our superiority.
And the extreme left party is not aloud to take part in the german election.
The left party will get 12 percent. This will be a great success to create an opposition against the parties who are responsible for the big mess. So things won't get worse with a strong left oppoition.

<quoted text>The left party in Germany has got absolutely nothing to do with communism. The programm is social justice. Every business will stay private. Are you really that mad to believe that the left wants to continue the Stalin doctrine as in the former State of East-Germany? You have the right to observe our election but do not interfere in our election.
Agreed.

As a Briish person living in the USA this type of attack is nothing compared to what is currently happening in the USA - and we are not even in an election year!

Anybody used to health care in Europe (I have experienced health care in my native UK, Denmark and Germany; I like the German system the best.) would shudder at the terrible system that exists in the USA.

Health care is regarded as a business for profit, not a right of the population. Most people get health care from their employer but if you are self employed or work for a small company that cannot provide health care, or you even change jobs you are on your own. Good luck at that point! If you have a pre-existing condition (as I have) you are automatically excluded at any price. If you have insurance but get very sick (e.g. cancer) the insurance companies will use any excuse (one example, failing to disclose corns on the feet) to throw you out.

In response Obama has come up with a very weak package of reforms that move the country in the right direction but give nothing like the health care we Europeans expect. For this he is accused of "government takeover" , "being Hitler", "being a socialist, communist, fascist (yes I know they are mutually exclusive but don't expect the right wing nutcases here to use logic or facts of any kind!)" and "setting up of death panels (the death panels exist now - they are run by the private health insurance companies).

I am well into middle age and I have NEVER seen politics like this in any country before.

Communism has many differed faces. The idea of communism is that everybody gats the same payment if it is a doctor, a farmer or a worker orů your mother. Everybody works for the other.
That sounds nice but it dos not work in a world ruled by money

A lot of ideas from the left party are based on that ..and btw a lot of politicians in the germen left party have bin politicians from the DDR!
They wand that the rich people pay a lot of tax to pay the state and everything, but what do you thing will the rich people do when they have to pay a lot of tax just because they have money.
They leave Germany and take the money and the companies that they own and the workplaces with them!

I have lived in a pretty socialist country, Denmark, and am now living in a pretty "free market" country - USA.

You will be extremely surprised - not - that neither is perfect.

In Denmark the quality of living for the worst off in society is light years better than it is in the USA. Denmark does not have real poor - the USA does. Denmark does not have people dying because they cannot get access to health care - the USA does.

The con-side is that Denmark has extremely high taxes. This means that there are very few genuinely super-rich people. The financial incentive to be innovative or enterprising is not there. However left wing a person is (and I was pretty left wing as a student) we all have to accept the basic fact that self interest is the most potent force of human nature.

Therefore faced with a choice between two extremes my answer is always - take the best of both. This means - yes - government has a role to play but - no - we are not going to pay people equally no matter how hard (or not) they work.

In reality there is huge government involvement in the USA no matter which Party is in power and no matter what the Republicans would have you believe. It is just then when Republicans are in power (s. GWB) they create huge debts to finance world domination wars and tax cuts for the super rich.
