Dear little nation of 32,000 square miles.

My wish for Fianna Fail is that it fails to get elected and does not get into power again for at least a generation - 25 years. It has been on the decline for some years yet did not notice that it couldn't get enough seats for independent government.
Divide 185 billion Euro by population of four million - they can never pay that.
Ireland was a very poor place in 1960s until they thought of PAYE and Turnover Tax of 2.5 per cent on all sales 1962-3. In 1966 they were able to offer free education for secondary students.
Now to balance this enormous bill,(185B) they must cut disabled benefit, and other marginal beneficiaries. This little country's premier earns more than President of Continent of America!
Ireland has been treated like a cow - they milked her so much that what nourishment she took she kept getting weak and then collapsed - still a young beast!

I don't want our young people emigrating to other countries. I was in business here in 1980s and I noticed that my customers were children under 16 or folk on pensions. The young 20-30s had gone overseas. There is more to just a person going overseas - they are consumers gone. Thomas Davis estimated that in his day every living person in the country spent £5. That was lost to Ireland if they lived elsewhere.
I had to go myself and thought there was lan-abhaile when we came home on holiday. Unfortunately I suffered the greatest period of penury anyone should be expected to suffer when we came home for good. Now I want everyone to know I didn't cause this nor am I accepting any responsibility for it.
