Not sure why her remains cannot return to Albania since she has is albanian and has always maintained that that was her country of origin. This is just another example of a big country claiming what's not theirs. MT will be saint and she would have wanted her remains to be near her family and not thousands of miles away!

The FYRoMacedonians claim that she is from there...

There is at least one exception: a brand new museum that pays homage to one of Skopje's hometown celebs, Mother Teresa.

"We are proud because she is the only Nobel Prize winner from Macedonia," explains docent Marina Spirova.

We know who you are! Not an Albanian! MOther Tereza never wanted to go to Albania. She was Indian citizen by choice. She served the poor of India and got well known for her deeds in India.

How about Pakistan? Why not? There is a tourist potential there! Well let us allege that she always wanted to go to Pakistan! Then the tourist dollars will be diverted to Pakistan, and not to Albania!!!!!LOL

As an Albanian i'm proud that MT was Albanian but I think she should remain in India where she did her work because truthfully she did nothing about Albania or the Albanian people that I know off. She helped the poor outside of Albania and I believe she belongs where she chose to do her work. I know Albanians will not like my view on this subject but try to persuade me otherwise.

Are you saying that the people in FYRoM are lying about her birthplace? I agree she should remain in India where she did her work, but wasn't she born elsewhere? Isn't there a right to have her repatriated?

LOL. She never thought of going back when she was alive! Now, we cannot ask her! The remains cannot speak! Then we know what she would have wished since she voluntary became Indian citizen long time ago!

Just because someone is sentimental enough to care about gypcies, doesn t mean she belongs to gypcies.... mother teresa was albanian by blood , citizenship is just some typing on a stamped card and means nothing, and her mother's and sister's graves are in Tirana... the most human thing to do is to let her rest in piece next to her family, not somewhere full of gypcies around...

Why she not request to be buried in Albania before she died and
i'm pretty sure she requested to be buried in Calcutta and if she
had second choice it would be in Macedonia and her country of
birth,so let her soul rest in peace in Calcutta cause India not
in a million years will desecrate her grave to bring to Albania, maybe we should ask her,oh but we can't.

She never requested so, Macedonia is not a country, just some artificial state based on lies squised out of Tito's ass, Skopje was one of the most flourishing cities during Ottoman empire , so it is quite logical that she was born as an Albanian in what is today Fyromian capital...

Listen Slav...even though India won't let us take her back, the fact that we requested her back, as a message is more important...

India Not Giving Up Mother Teresa
Posted by Miss Cellania in Religion on October 16, 2009 at 12:15 pm

When Mother Teresa died in 1997, she was buried at the Missionaries of Charity headquarters in Calcutta. Now that she is expected to be canonized as a saint, the government of Albania has asked that her remains be disinterred and turned over to Albanian authorities. India has formally rejected the demand.

“Mother Teresa was an Indian citizen and she is resting in her own country, her own land,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Vishnu Prakash said.

A spokeswoman for the nun’s Missionaries of Charity described the Albanian request as “absurd”.

Mother Teresa, an ethnic Albanian, was born in Skopje, now part of Macedonia.

Correspondents say that the row over her resting place could develop into an ugly three-way squabble between India, where she worked most of her life, Albania where her parents came from and Macedonia where she lived the first 18 years of her life.

Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha said his country will continue the quest to regain Mother Teresa’s remains before the 100th anniversary of her birth next year.

Her birth was in Skopje,,,not Tirana.

Besides this fact I do not appreciate the Albanian government making claims to Mother Teresa. She may have been Albanian or Half Albanian but she felt more Christian than anything. And the Indians feel such a spiritual connection to her that it would be wrong to remove her body from India. I hope Macedonia does not ask for he remains because that is just downright wrong in my opinion. "She lived here and died here" as the Indians said. Albania needs to stop making up myths and needs to get with the program of reality.

if anything the Macedonians would have more right to make such a request than Albania. that would be wrong, Macedonia will celebrate her memory because she was born there and that in itself is a significant fact, but she carried out most of her life's work in India, her body belongs there, I am sure that she would have wanted the same thing. Let her rest in peace.

Yes, agree but Albanians are Christian too and at Skopia everybody speaks Albanian too. Hence, I suggest you make one monument at Skopia of this Great Christian Albanian too. Think about it:))

ASK THEM SO IF YOU SO BADLY WANT IT:)) do keep in mind that no everyone is a gypsi just because you are so.

Alexander was borned in Pella (Greece since ancient) claimed to be Doric (Greeks since ancient) and fought the Persian (Greek ancient enemies) for the Glory of Greece.

Mother Teresa was a great Christian Albanian borned at Skopia:))
A statue is the least you shoul do about her and make sure you write it in Albanian too not only Slavic, ok? be fair.
